Congratulations on the successful completion of the second quarter and for completing report cards! Several students exited from interventions due to your combined efforts! Thank you for your dedication to ensuring the needs of our Meadowview students are being met.

Welcome!

Please welcome Mrs. Audrey McDermott, our new lunchroom supervisor. She will be starting on Monday. Mrs. McDermott currently has a fourth grader who attends Meadowview.

American Education Week - Thank you to Katie Y and Vickie for Coordinating!

American Education Week is November 17 - 21. It honors our public education system and the people that make it great. This year’s theme is “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.” During this week, the Woodridge Education Association (WEA) will highlight the importance of togetherness between teachers, staff, parents, students, and the community.

Monday - Kick off to AEW! -

· Wear your favorite kicks (shoes).

· “BE” Bulletin - Students write ONE WORD about how they are a Star Student. You can complete this task at anytime during the week. We would like to collect a few “BE” words from each grade level.

· Write a letter to a soldier - optional activity. See flyer provided. If any students write letters to soldiers, place them in Mrs. Yeagle or Ms. Wright’s mailbox by Friday. We will mail them together.

· Begin Caring compliments - place them in the C.C. box near PAW fox box.


Tuesday – “Learning makes you Colorful”

· Wear your tie dyes or colorful clothing.

· Continue Caring Compliments


Wednesday – “Let's hear it for our Teaching TEAM”

· Wear your favorite sport’s Team gear.

· Continue Caring Compliments


Thursday – “Fall into Reading”

· P.J. Day, 20-30 minutes of “Stop Drop and READ” Time

(teacher chooses reading time)

Friday - School Spirit Day!

Notes and Reminders

  • PLCs run throughout next week. Please see Liz's email with the agenda.
  • Please carefully read through both Smores above. Please note the information regarding PARCC. Begin to schedule time to have your students take the PARCC practice tests, as we discussed at our Monday Meeting with Liz. Also, please make note of the PARCC testing windows: March 9th-27th AND May 4th-29th.
  • The first session of after school clubs ends Thursday, November 20th. If you're up for facilitating an after-school club for the second session, which runs from January 6th through February 26th, please let me know.
  • Per Greg, we are cancelling DEB during the week of January 12th in order to most effectively administer ACCESS tests to our ELL students. This does NOT include Rebekah's groups. Please plan accordingly.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank you for meeting to schedule parent/teacher conferences. Please cover the following in the brief conference:

  1. Highlight something positive about each child
  2. Share the writing rubric, student checklist, and grade-level writing exemplar
  3. Proceed with a discussion of strengths and areas of needs as you see fit
