Summer Internship Opportunities for Juniors & Seniors.
Subject: LISD Summer Internship and Summer Jobs Program
We have a lot of businesses looking to hire our LISD students, so I decided to make a one-stop listing for students to view all opportunities that hit my desk. We are rolling out the LISD Summer Internship program for the third year. This year, businesses will have the opportunity to list paid or unpaid offerings, as well as remote or in-person offerings. The internship program is open to current LISD juniors and seniors.
I will also list businesses who are looking to hire summer workers. The business will decide what hiring parameters are for those posts.
Interested students can fill out this form: https://forms.gle/95BNjYvBS6p8X7Pe8
Students with questions should reach out to Partnerships@lisd.net.
Illness Precautions
COVID Call Centers (469) 444-3558
A few reminders as we enter the flu season and are seeing an increase in COVID-19 across the county:
- If your student is sick or not feeling well, please keep them home out of extra precaution during this time.
- Reinforce the importance of wearing masks and remaining socially distant to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- If your students experiences any symptoms or learns they may have been exposed the COVID-19 call the LISD COVID Call Center at 469-444-3558.
Virtual Pathway Attendance Information
Attendance will be taken as the student's Skyward schedule indicates. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has put in place the following guidelines in order for student attendance to be accepted daily:
- Daily progress in the Learning Management System [Edgenuity or Canvas]; or
- Daily progress via teacher-student interactions about their learning; or
- Completion/Turn-in of assignments from student to teacher (potentially via email, online, or mail)
The TEA guidelines apply to each class period for which attendance is taken. Therefore, a student can be engaged in one subject but absent in another. A student must engage by one of the above three methods for each of their classes that their A/B schedule indicates. Secondly, due to the fact that the TEA allows for engagement from midnight to midnight, there will be at least a one day delay in accurate attendance reporting.
It is critical that a student engage in the appropriate content daily. There will be instances where a teacher uses face to face time through Webex to engage with students. To be considered present, the student must remain engaged during the large majority of the Face to Face Webex time. TEA has indicated that a simple sign in and sign out may not be used to count a student as present. Interaction with the teacher is a key component to the success of the virtual learning experience. Therefore, please encourage your student to remain engaged with their teacher during this valuable time.
