Reopening Planning
New Metrics & Case Numbers will guide our reopening plans
Pacific Ridge is committed to bringing students and staff back when safe to do so. Currently our Seaside School Board has approved Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) to continue through the end of fall term, December 4th, 2020.
Two weeks ago, on October 30th, the Governor of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Education in collaboration with the Oregon Health Authority, released new guidelines and metrics for reopening of our school. At the time of that announcement, our county case rates of COVID-19 cases put our schools in the category of being able to reopen at all grade levels (K-12).
Unfortunately, since that announcement, our Clatsop County COVID-19 case numbers have continued to rise each week. As of last week (November 9th) our county case rate numbers have risen significantly and now officially put our schools in the category of NOT being able to reopen at any grade level. We are prepared to open, but cannot do so if our county case rates continue to remain where they are, because we will not be able to meet the required metrics.
On Friday, November 13th, the Governor announced a two-week freeze for our entire state, beginning Wednesday, November 18th-Wednesday, December 2nd. Although we do not know what the upcoming weeks will bring, it is our sincere hope that this freeze will help to lower the COVID-19 cases in our state and county to a number that will again allow us to reopen.
Each of us must do our part so that we can get back to school. I encourage you to please follow the two-week freeze guidelines, continue to wear a mask and wash your hands frequently. Together we can make a difference!
We will continue to closely monitor the updated COVID-19 case numbers each week and use the Oregon Department of Education's metrics to plan for school reopening options. Depending on our Clatsop County COVID-19 case rates our school options for winter trimester (beginning December 8th) will be one of the following: Hybrid Onsite, Limited in Person Onsite, or Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) instruction.
Additionally, to assist us in our reopening planning we have a couple of surveys we will need you to please complete.
1. Changing School Choice Option Form: https://forms.gle/FR3g9MGEU3P3mnVa7
If you have not already done so, please complete this form if you intend for your student to switch from either CDL to Online Thrive or from Online Thrive to CDL for the second trimester of the 2020-2021 school year. CDL students will return to onsite instruction when it is safe to do so. Online Thrive students will remain off campus in online learning.
2. Transportation Form: This form will be emailed & texted to families soon!
The information provided in the links below help our school board and Pacific Ridge Elementary School make decisions about how we can provide the most updated health and wellness information along with school reopening plans.

Virtual Turkey Trot
Turkey Trot Tradition Continues...
Unfortunately, this year due to COVID restrictions, we have to change things up! A big thanks to our PacRidge PTO and our PE teacher, Mr. Sigler for keeping this tradition going in a very untraditional way. See flyer for more details on how to run a mile "virtually" and have the chance to win a REAL pumpkin pie!
