Quakers build a city of brotherly love

Philadelphia

Philidelphia was already a flurishing colony with 4,000 inhabitants. William Penn was a major figure in the future of the colony. He wanted a city shaped like a grid with houses spaced out so they wouldn't catch on fire. Many of Penn's policies brought people from Europe that caused rapid growth and prosperity.

Quakers

King Charles II had to repay many political debts. We seen this in Philadelphia when all of the Quakers were coming across the ocean. The biggest name of the Quaker movement was William Penn. He had many great ideas that would help the colony and it did open up the doors to many more people coming to out colony. One of the interesting things was by 1700, laws recognizing slavery were passed.
