WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
READING & WRITING
We will continue our work on writing about reading. Next week we start our book clubs. Learners will be using Home of the Brave" by Katherine Applegate for the book club break out room discussions. We also started using iStation this week. Learners are expected to spend 45 minutes per week completing activities in the iStation app.
MATH
This we explored multiplication and division strategies. Learners were given problems to solve using two different multiplication/division strategies. Next week we will be discovering decimals. This a fun unit for learners.
SCIENCE
This week the learners worked on a scientific drawing. I am so amazed by the final product they submitted. Next week we will begin our unit on force and motion.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Learners continued working on the unit for colonization in America. Their studies focused on the settlement of St. Augustine. Next week we look at the establishment of the 13 colonies and end the week with a recognition activity for 9/11.
Important Information
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
