Leaders of Learning
This week's nominees:
I did not receive any nominees this week. However, I would like to thank Clint Rogers for his leadership in facilitating our SPP Technology Smackdown. I would also like to recognize the leadership of those who were willing to present: Suzanne Dunn, Diane Fortune, Denise White, Juanita Ammons, Mary Carrington, Johnna Futral, Brittany Bonner, Annie Osterman, Lisa Michno, Gloria Crabtree, Samantha Myatt, Jennifer Beck, Susie Mumper. I hate that I missed it, but can tell from the google doc that there were great conversations and learning! Thank you to all of our leaders!!

More from "Closing the Attitude Gap"
In today's educational environment, it is essential that teaching and learning are culturally relevant and responsive to the learner. Please remember to ask yourself, "Do I realize who they are?" All students must be able to see themselves both historically and culturally in their lessons, which makes 21st Century learning so important. Our students must see the relevance to what they are learning in their individual lives...how it affects them or why it is even happening. They must be able to see how the learning impacts their lives after leaving the school day is over. In other words, in order to make this happen, YOU MUST KNOW YOUR STUDENTS!..........
.........And not only do you need to know your students, YOU must know yourself! Do you?
And remember, "Every kid needs a champion." --Rita Pierson

Counselor Corner
If you have some students that you have been wanting to refer to SST, now is your time to do it!
A referral to SST means that you have been trying interventions with a student but they are still not progressing.
This is the last call for referrals to the Student Support Team. Email me the names of any students you would like to meet on by March 1st. The calendar is filling up fast with students. I will put a note in your mailbox to remind you of all the things I need from you. Once I receive everything, I will put the student on the calendar.
