Music News!
Music Newsletter:
We’re about to begin quarter 4, and we’re hard at work in music class. In kindergarten and first grade, we just finished working on a couple Easter songs while practicing percussion technique and learning “ta,” “ti-ti,” and “sh.” In second grade, we’ve been learning to clap and count four beat rhythms and have just reached the difficult task of counting four rhythms together by themselves! Fifth grade is finishing their recorder unit, as many students have reached black belt, while 3rd grade is continuing to earn recorder karate belts that they get to attach to their recorder as they are able to play a song by themselves. Fourth and sixth graders are preparing to begin their keyboard (or electric piano) unit by reviewing treble and bass clef note names. Sixth grade also just completed the “Jukebox Time Machine” musical, which was a lot of work for them. I’m so proud!
Please see the dates below for upcoming music events:
1. Spring Choir Musical: “On the Radio” April 26th at 6pm in the cafeteria
2. McBride Talent Show: 5/11 at the High School
3. 2018-2019 Choir Auditions (open to grades 3-6): May 15th (new date) 2:30 – 3:30 in the music room- Students should come prepared to sing 1 minute of a song of their choice
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call, email, or stop by!

TOGETHER - Mustang Award
Our Mustang theme this year is "Together". Let's continue the recognition and thank yous. Each week we've enjoyed sharing the recipients for the TOGETHER award. Recipients receive this award because of the spirit of togetherness they've demonstrated to help McBride continue to be strong. You may nominate staff from McBride, staff from St. Helens School District, parents from McBride, community members from McBride/St. Helens - anyone that demonstrates working 'together' to help McBride continue to be the incredible school and community that it is. You may pick up a "Together" nomination form in the office or email Mrs. Tyler (lisat@sthelens.k12.or.us).
This week's award recipients......
McBride Staff - The McBride Staff has been nominated for giving students and families your best. Thank you for all you do for our school.
McBride PTO and McBride Families- The McBride families have been nominated this week because staff can't do this job without your partnership. There are countless examples of families working together with staff to make our students successful while at McBride. Thank you to the PTO for all your work in showing appreciation to our staff this past week. It is a well deserved time to recognize and appreciate all they do for our students and families. Thank you for all you do to support our staff and our school.
