Family Focus

This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.

This week in math we are discussing fractions. Find examples in the real world of fractions. Such as when you eat pizza talk about how many parts make up the pizza (for example 8 pieces make the whole) then your family eats 6 slices, you can talk about what fraction of the pizza was eaten and what fraction of the pizza is left. If you find any cool examples please send a picture to your teachers.

ELAR: We will learn how to retell and paraphrase stories. We will also plan a writing draft, publish and share writing throughout the week. We will also discuss using context clues to help determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.

Math: We will identify and name parts of a whole (fractions) such as halves, fourths, and eights.

Social Studies: We will discuss services provided by the government such as police and fire protection, libraries, schools and parks.

Science: We will observe, describe, and compare rocks by size, texture and color.
