In Area 31, we will hold a session on Financing Alternatives for Startups on Tuesday. Join us for a conversation about the pros and cons of Private Equity vs other options such as loans. Also on Tuesday, teams in the Incubator in Area 31 will have their Monthly get together. And, on our opportunities section, Pasion>ie opens the application process for its 4th edition. Financing alternatives for a Startup. Private Equity vs Financing

All startups will need at some point financing their projects. There is always a decision to make whether getting private equity vs getting loans/getting public finance or grants. To view both sides we will count as speakers with Cristina Ubach from Ubach Munne &Asociados a consultancy company specialized in public/private financing and with José María Pina, vicepresident at Keiretsu Forum, a global investment community of accredited private equity angel investors, venture capitalists and corporate/institutional investors.Register here.

Area 31 will host a meeting organized by Fundación Créate among school children and Pablo Gonzalez Ruiz de la Torre, an IE University student and fellow and the IE Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Pablo ho will share with them his experience in entrepreneurship.

Alterkeys, one of the startups in the Incubator in Area 31, will present their platform that connects travellers looking for a short-term accommodation with property owners to the press. Also, they will talk about the present situation of their sector.

You don’t need to be able to serve the whole market with your MVP
Lets do some simple maths. Say your customer is the tablet owner with children from 3 to 6 years old. Around 50m people worldwide could fit that description. Approximately 58% will be running their tablets on iOS, 23% on Android, 6 % on Windows, etc (Forrester Research 2013). When you consider this data before building your MVP you might be tempted to say: “If I build my MVP for iOS I have a served available market of 29m people, but if I also build it for Android I can cover an additional 11m people, and that’s nearly 40% more!” Read More
