Why Do We Celebrate Homecoming? by Autumn Fankhauser
We celebrate homecoming because homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back a graduate or former student of a particular school, college, or university, an example is Harvard, or other former members of an organization to celebrate the organization's existence.

Destiny thinks we celebrate homecoming for the high schoolers for their hard work. Destiny’s favorite part about homecoming week is that we get to dress-up.

Joe thinks we celebrate homecoming to support the people coming back from college. Joe's favorite part about homecoming is to give candy to people at the parade.
Eleanor Schlesinger-5th grade
Eleanor has no idea why we celebrate homecoming, but her favorite part about homecoming week is to get candy from the parade and to see how creative people are with the dress up days.

Alexis Hurst went to the parade because she is a cheerleader and she wanted to support her team. She liked seeing her friends cheering. She liked getting smarties. She said the reason we have homecoming is because it is fun to do. She wishes she could have seen people cheering for the football team. She really liked the parade.
Charlotte Boddicker was in the parade because she was cheering in the parade. She liked seeing everyone watching us. Blue razz berry sucker. She wishes she could see more people at the parade. But she liked the parade.
Pumpkin Palooza! By. Eleanor Schlesinger With help from Emerson Ellsworth!
Pumpkins pumpkins everywhere! But what would some of your classmates carve on theirs? To start us off we have Emma in Mrs. Ruffcorn's class, she’d carve a pumpkin with Eyelashes on her eyes, a triangle nose, and a square toothed grin, how fun! In first grade we have Riley in Mrs. Dice's class, she’d carve heart eyes, a square nose, and a spiky tooth filled mouth turned up in a smile! Next is Bethany in second grade Mrs. Wrights' class and who chose a more cutesy design with eyelashes on the eyes, a triangle nose, and a cat-like mouth! Lincoln Ellsworth in Mrs. Schmidt's class chose cat-like eyes, a spade shaped nose, and a toothless grin! I hope these creative students have inspired you! I hope you have an awesomely spooky Halloween! What will you carve?
Trunk Or Treat by Conrad Kearns
Siegrist held their Trunk or treat on Oct 18 from 5:00 to 6:30.There were over 400 people in total. It was beautiful outside.
Elise from Phillips’ class went to Trunk or Treat. Her costume was Beetlejuice. Her favorite trunk was Taylor Swift and her favorite candy is Kit Kats. Her favorite memory from the event was seeing her friends.
Another student that went to Trunk or treat was Emersyn Offutt. She dressed up like a Cowgirl, and her favorite trunk was the bowling one because she likes bowling. Her favorite memory was also trunking with her friends.
Another student is Teagan Taulbee. She was a squishmellow. Her favorite candy was also the kit kats. Teagan liked the spider's trunk because she likes spiders.

Siegrist Staff’s Childhood Costumes! By. Eleanor Schlesinger
Most everyone dresses up for Halloween, but what about the adults? Well, here are some spectacularly scary costumes from staff members' childhoods! First up is Mrs. Riel, who dressed up as Wonder Woman for Halloween one year! What an awesome idea! Next up is Mrs. Tina who dressed up as a gypsy for Halloween, how cool and creative! Next we have Ms. Anne who dressed as a scary nurse one Halloween! And then is Mrs. Seidel who dressed up as a punk rocker! Next up is Mrs. McCutcheon who dressed up as a pair of dice with her sister! Mrs. Neal by Conrad Kearns
Hey guys let’s learn about our librarian, Mrs. Neal. (Whoo, yeah, awesome)! Mrs. Neal loves working at Siegrist as it's like working with one big family. What is your role here at Siegrist? Mrs. Neal is the librarian. She taught 2nd grade for 27 years and this is her second year here in the library. In high school she worked at a grain elevator during harvest. In college she worked at a telemarketing company (& she disliked every minute of it). Some hobbies Mrs. Neal does outside of school is gardening and taking walks outside. An interesting fact is Mrs. Neal likes going to concerts. (especially ROCK ones!)
Mrs. Skaggs by Autumn Fankhauser
Mrs. Skaggs is the art teacher here at Siegrist. Mrs. Skaggs enjoys all kinds of art work she sees and all kinds of artists in the school. Mrs. Skaggs has been in education for 2 years, before she was a teacher she used to work at the Platte County Collector’s office. Outside of school Mrs. Skaggs enjoys crocheting, quilting, and she loves to kayak. An interesting fact you may not know but Mrs. Skaggs was the mascot at her high school, she was the Prowler the panther!
Dr. Mann by Annie Standeford
Dr. Mann enjoys working with everybody in the school. She loves helping kids be the best person they could possibly be. Dr. Mann is a school counselor. She helps everybody the students, staff and parents. She helps with special counseling. Dr. Mann has been teaching at Siegrist for 7 years. Some other jobs that Dr. Mann has worked as an assistant principal and a career coordinator for Greater Kansas City. Dr. Mann loves to travel, spend time with her family, try new recipes, exercise, read and take on new projects. One project that Dr. Mann and her family have been working on cleaning up a pasture and getting it ready to plant and grow some corn.
Mrs. Burrows by Elise DeLashmutt
Meet Mrs.Burrows! Mrs. Burrows is one of the counselors here at Siegrist. She enjoys who she works with. When Mrs Burrows gets home she likes to go outside and spend time with her family. An interesting fact about Mrs .Burrows is that she used to work with Dr. Mann back when they both had different jobs!!! Before Mrs Burrows came to Siegrist she worked at Great Clips, Liberty public schools, Fort Osage public schools and Hickman Mills Public Schools!! She's been in education for 14 years!!! We are so lucky to have Mrs .Burrows at our school!!! That's all about Mrs. Burrows!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️😊😊

Eli enjoys 4th grade, he likes his teacher Mrs. McCarthy. Eli's favorite part about 4th grade is making new friends. His favorite subject is science. Eli’s favorite candy are Rolo's.

Beckham likes to learn new things, and he is likes being at Siegrist. Beckham's favorite candy are Gushers. His favorite subject is science. Beckham likes graphic novels. Beckham's favorite lunch are Lunchables. Beckham also enjoys his teacher Mrs. Phillips.
Brynlyn Kreutzer, 4th Grade
Brynlyn likes meeting new friends, and she likes her teacher Mrs. Philips. Brynlyn's favorite candy is Cookie Dough Twix bars. Brynlyn's favorite subject is reading, and her favorite series of books to read are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Brynlyn’s favorite school lunch is cheese pizza with cut up pineapple.

Aliya likes being at this school already. Her favorite subject is reading, and her favorite genre of books are Koalas. Aliya's favorite candy is Twizzlers. Aliya's favorite part about school is writing. Aliya likes meeting new friends, and she loves her teacher Mrs. Kirschner.
Beckham Nelson, 4th Grade
Beckham is in Mrs. Mars’s class. His favorite candy are Mr. Beast bars. His favorite specials is gym. His favorite genre of books are scary stories. Beckham enjoys his class and his favorite part about 4th grade is recess.
Melina Kaiser, 4th Grade

Learn About Bus Leaders

Meet one of our school’s bus Leaders, Conrad Kearns! “It’s pretty fun,” Conrad states, "I get to meet other Bus Leaders and give everyone high fives!” Bus leaders greet the bus riders at the end of the day. The leaders hold up signs and give high fives to help students have a positive bus ride. Conrad says, “Well, your hand hurts from all the hard high fives, but it’s worth it!” He also says that he likes making others happy, even if they don’t like him! I hope this has helped you get a peek into the life of a Bus Leader. Bye Siegrist family!

Breakfast Rush

Here at Siegrist, breakfast comes and goes with a snap of your fingers! Though the line may be long, students still enjoy the delicious cereals, breakfast pizzas, muffins, glazed doughnuts and fruit the lunch ladies prepare! Though we all know tons of students rush to buy the food, here is what a few students think of it! Tony in 1st grade, Mrs. Wright's class, thinks that the Cheerios are the best. While 1st grader, Malachi likes everything and Jase in 3rd grade likes the breakfast pizza –which sounds delicious! Finally, Devan, in Mrs. McCarthy’s class likes the school’s doughnuts. All the food from the school breakfasts sound so good! Now, the price. Last year the price was $1.85 and this year it was raised by ten cents so it now is $1.95. The price wasn’t raised too much, that’s good! Well, I hope you have an awesome autumn Siegrist family and enjoy those tasty breakfasts!

Patrick Mahomes by Jackson Fain
If you're a NFL fan you probably know the iconic Patrick Mahomes. Pat was born on September 17, 1995 and is 28 years old. He went to Texas Tech University. He is 6’2 and has three siblings. Pat has amazing career stats. He has 26,258 passing yards and has 207 touchdown passes in his whole career. He is considered one of the sports brightest and most popular young stars. He thrills fans across the country with jaw dropping offensive plays and long touchdown passes. Mahomes joined the chiefs following an outstanding college career. He played his first game in December 2017. Since then he has been one of the NFL’s most fearful touchdown scorers.
Beatniks by Annie Standeford
Have you heard of the dance school Beatniks? You probably have not, so that's why I am writing this story. Beatniks is a dance and tumble studio where they teach all different types of dance. They teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Jazz Pom, Modern and Tumble. They also Teach Yoga, Workouts and Adult Tap; these are all for adults older than 18. Tumble Is basically the floor event in Gymnastics. Harper Harris in first grade has been going to Beatniks for 2 years now and she is taking the dance style hip hop. She enjoys dancing a lot. Her favorite song to dance to is Love Story. Brynlyn Kreutzer in fourth grade goes to IDKC Dance. She is taking the baton and this is her first year doing baton. She thinks batons are cool and fun. She loves meeting new friends and having fun. One of the songs she has danced to is this Girl is on Fire by Alicia Keys. Beatniks is a great place to be; you should check it out.

Charlotte was in the parade because she was cheering in the parade. She liked seeing everyone watching us. She wishes she could see more people at the parade. But she still liked being able to cheer at the parade.

Micah has been cheering for 1 year. Her favorite cheer is when they yell, "Stand up...be proud!" Micah loves cheer because she gets to do a lot of talking and spending time with her big sister, Reese.

September's All School Assembly Recap

Hello Siegrist family! During the September all school awards assembly, we announced the winners of personal awards, and class awards (Which I’ll get to later), every assembly we play a “Minute-to-win-it” game. This time, our lucky 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th students and staff members played ring toss to win a prize for their grade! This time’s winner was Jeremiah Dodson, 5th grade, everyone was a good sport.
Now, the golden awards are given to classes who excel at different specials and who have good behavior at lunch and have very clean classrooms! Now, the exciting bit, the winners! The winner of k-2nd art was (2nd grade) Mrs. Wright's class, and The 3rd-5th was Mrs. Mars. The Music k-2nd was Mrs. Dunlap, the 3rd-5th was Mrs. Schmidt. Library golden awards went out to Mrs. Simon’s class for the K-2nd, and the 3rd-5th was Mr. Bogart. The clean classroom award for K-2nd went out to Mrs. Poos class, the 3rd-5th for Mrs. Hall. Finally, the lunch awards! The K-2nd grade award went out to Mrs. Kirschner’s class, and the 3rd-5th to Mrs. Villarreal (Mrs. V) Good job everyone who got an award! See you next assembly!
Why do we do the golden trophy? by Autumn Fankhauser
Why do we do the golden trophies? We do them to show our listening skills, and how much we pay attention to our specials and how respectful we are to them. But I think we do them to show how respectful our school is, when our teachers are not around. A winner is chosen from Kindergarten to 2nd grade and another winner is chosen from 3rd-5th grade.

Why you should not bully by Kinlee Smith
1. You will make the kid you bully feel it is not safe at school.
2. You will make the kid want to hide and that kid should not hide it is unsafe.
3. You will make the kid sad, mad, angry and scared.
4. Students who are bullied are more likely to experience low self-esteem and isolation, perform poorly in school, have few friends in school, have a negative view of school, experience physical symptoms (such as headaches, stomachaches, or problems sleeping}
5.Youth who bully others are at increased risk for substance use, academic problems, and experiencing violence later in adolescence and adulthood.
6.Bullying affects witnesses as well as targets. Witnesses who are more likely to use tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs and have increased mental health problems.

Peanut Luke Special Edition: Luke is Free ...The 2nd in the series Written by Annie Standeford
If you haven’t read the first peanut Luke you should probably read it or you will be clueless. Luke was the size of a peanut and stuck in a dark damp cave. Luke kept moving to the exit; he was very close. He was shrunk to the size of a peanut 6 months ago.
Luke finally got to the exit of the cave unaware of a tiger hiding, the tiger jumped out of hiding and swallowed Luke whole. Luke considered him lucky that he was alive but there was no way out unless the tiger puked and there was no food. Right then and there the tiger got a stick stuck in his throat and he puked it up...along with Luke. Now Luke was free. But a bird swooped down and grabbed Luke in his mouth. The bird took him away to be eaten. The nest was big and was made out of twigs, plastic and leaves. And that was all he got to see before he was eaten again.

Hello,If you have not read the first book then go read it OR ELSE. Anyway if you have, let's get on with the story. Ok,when Metallicity locked the bad guys up he did not know they brought a secret device.The break free 7000 it well did what it sounds like. It broke them free while Metallicity was relaxing on Ultra-relax-2000 (a couch) and the villains had a secret plot. Sure, Metallicity had always beat them, but this time they knew he couldn’t resist to save his fellow citizens.
