A Social Worker responds to people who are in need of help. They react to many situations such as child abuse, help people improve themselves, follow up on patients to make sure their situations have improved, and help clients adjust to changes and challenges such as illness, divorce, and unemployment.

How To Become A Social Worker

To become a social worker you must have a bachelors degree in social work. You can also have a degree in psychology or sociology. Some important qualities are compassion, interpersonal skills, listening skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills and time-management skills.

The employment outlook of social workers is predicted to go up 19 percent from 2012 to 2022. The median wage for social workers was $44,200 in May 2012. Some counselors and other forms of social work got paid an annual wage of about $40,400 in May 2012.

Social workers count as an occupation in Sociology because you have to work with groups and individuals. They can work with children, adults, people with disabilities, people with a serious illness or addictions.
