Summit Ridge Middle School February 2023
Learner Profile: InquirerFor the month of February, our school will be highlighting what it means to be an “Inquirer”. As an IB school, we encourage students and teachers to further their love for learning beyond the classroom.
To promote "Inquiring" learners at home, ask your student what topics interest them. What are they curious about? Doing research on the topic of interest is a great way for parents and students to spend time together. You can write out a list of questions for research. Students and parents will learn so much by learning together. | Outdoor LabAll Year 1, 6th Grade students have been preparing for their week of hands-on learning at one of the Outdoor Lab locations. The Outdoor Lab program was founded in 1957 and has been a staple in Jefferson County ever since. Students are immersed into the learning experience and walk away with a better understanding of the environment and conservation of the environment. With over 300 6th Grade students, Summit Ridge will occupy both Outdoor Lab locations, Windy Peak and Mount Evans for the week of January 30th and our last group will go to Windy Peak the following week. While at Outdoor Lab students will engage in lessons on geology, ecosystems, archery, sustainability and friendship building. | Community Project All Year 3, 8th Grade students have begun their research for the Community Project. Students have been paired with a Supervisor who will guide them during this service project. The” United Nations 17 Sustainability Goals” were used by students to narrow down their choice of service project. The Community Projects will be presented by students on April 20, 2023. Please be sure to review our daily announcements posted on the SRMS homepage to learn about the different student-led fundraisers. |
