Parent & Student Hour of Code Event
December 10th, 7:00-8:30pm- CMS- Learn-Code-Enjoy
2nd Annual 5th-8th Grade Coding Night
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We also know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. However only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and less students are studying it than a decade ago.
That’s why our entire district is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 7-13) during school hours. Last year, 60 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we're joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students! We also know you may want to learn more about coding so we are asking you to come and learn more about coding during our Parent & Student Hour of Code Event at Copeland on December 10th.
We hope to see you and your child! Please note this is not a drop off event. We would like you to come learn, code and enjoy with your student in grades 5-8. Please fill out the RSVP form using the link below, so that we know approximately how many guests to expect and accommodate in the computer labs.
Our Hour of Code is a statement that Copeland is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event huge.
