Message from the Principal
Greetings,
I have seen so many student projects and overheard conversations and lessons about being thankful and grateful the last few weeks, that it’s made me reflect too! Here are my top ten when I think of our school:
· I am thankful for each and every student and the character they bring to our school.
· I am blessed to work with a caring and dedicated staff.
· Our parents are true partners in the success of our school.
· Maple’s PTO ROCKS! They make sure we have fun and create memories.
· Every day is different and goes fast!
· I laugh every day. (Usually thanks to Mrs. Moore!)
· I love that I get to serve as the principal of such a special place.
· We have the friendliest front office staff!
· I’m able to work with community partners and ACSC to meet the needs of our families during hard times.
· We have a phenomenal OLC and Garden.
I hope you will take a moment to complete the E-learning day survey. This information will be beneficial as we work out the kinks for a future snow day. Thanks in advance for your help!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Mrs. Harrison
E-Learning Day Survey
Dear Parents,
Avon Community School Corporation is interested in your experience during our first e-learning day. Your feedback will help us fine tune our efforts to prepare for future e-learning days which may be used if inclement weather requires a school closure. Using e-learning days for weather related closures will allow us to maintain our scheduled school calendar without extending school make-up days into June.
If you have multiple children, you will receive one survey from each school your children attend. If you have multiple children in one school please mark each grade in which you have children at that school.

Attending school on a regular basis is important for each child's academic and social development. If your child is absent, it is harder to keep up with the class. Our policy is that students should not attend school if they have a temperature of 101 degrees or above, or if they have vomited or have had diarrhea in the past 12 hours.
They must be fever-free 24 hours before returning to school.
Students should not return to school after being treated for pink eye or strep infections until they have been on medication and fever free for a full 24 hours. Should you have questions regarding our policy, please feel free to contact me.

Community Engagement Session
Message from Dr. Hoernemann:
First Community Engagement Session-Big Success!
Thanks to all those who attended Community Engagement Session #1 on Monday evening and to those who watched at home or have viewed the recording. If you missed it and wish to see the recording, click here. We have also posted the PowerPoint presentation which you can find here.
The next session will be held on Monday, Nov. 27 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Avon Middle School South (Door 28). Although we will briefly review some of the material from the first presentation, we will also delve into some of the issues the audience spoke about. It is important to emphasize the fact that no decisions have been made about next steps. Indeed the Board and administration welcomes input from all stakeholders about your priorities. One gentleman asked what the price tag is to do all that we want (address class size, caseloads, competitive pay, restore and/or expand curricular, extra-curricular and athletic opportunities and many other topics that emerged.) We cannot answer that question without gaining a great deal more input/perspective from all. There will be multiple opportunities over the next couple months to get engaged.
We are grateful for the support shown to date and look forward to further conversation.
