Message from the superintendent
Greetings to all Middlesex Borough Faculty, Staff, Parents and Students!!
Congratulations! We did it! We have successfully completed the 2020-2021 Academic Year and I am elated to share that we are so much closer to "normal" than we were this time last year. Congratulations to the Middlesex High School Class of 2021!! The weather is beautiful and I'm excited that you will have a chance to celebrate with your family and friends IN-PERSON on the Football Field at 6PM Today!
Congratulations also to our scholars in Pre-K, 3rd and 8th grades for being promoted to the next level! Our 8th grade scholars will celebrate with family and friends on the Football Field at 11AM today! What an amazing end to a challenging year and it is well-deserved!
We truly appreciate your patience, support and encouragement during these past ten months. While not every decision was easy it was knowing that everyone's health and safety were in the forefront of each decision that truly made the difference. We are now working on our Safe Reopening Plan for 2021-2022. On Monday, June 14, 2021, I shared information that is within our draft plan in addition to the results received from the Survey that was shared on June 8th. Thank you for the feedback provided as it assists us in doing what is needed for our students, faculty, staff and administrators. Please know this is an ongoing process. Our Safe Reopening Plan is a "living document" and the information within remains "fluid." Therefore, consistent edits are inevitable and will be incorporated as guidance is received from the New Jersey Department of Education and from the Office of the Governor. As of today, while we are required to post our Safe Reopening Plan to our district's website by June 24, 2021 and also submit it to the New Jersey Department of Education, we have not received guidance in regards to how we are to proceed for the upcoming year. For example, social distancing guidelines, mask wearing and other requirements remain in place for schools. Our full intent is to return to school at 100% capacity in September. In order to effectively do so, we are unable to follow social distancing requirements of 3 feet, minimally, within in classroom spaces and 6 feet within cafeterias and/or spaces where lunches are consumed. As such, we must utilize existing guidance to create our plans with the understanding that as changes are made our plans will also change. Please be patient with us as we work within the confines of this process and know that our goal is 100% and that is truly our focus. There will be many opportunities for the community to provide feedback as we are required to solicit public feedback/input, minimally, every 60 days.
There will be a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The meeting will be called to order at 5:30PM in the Peter J. Diskin Auditorium. The purpose of the Special Board Meeting is for the Board to approve awarding a bid for a High School Partial Sewer Line replacement. Board Action will be taken. The Board will also move into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters. No action will be taken after the Executive Session. The Regular Public Meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021.
Happy Pride Month to our LGBTQIA community and supporters! Always remember that "love is love!" Happy Father's Day (June 20th) to our father's and if you have a best friend, Happy Best Friend's Day (June 8th).
Unless a need arises, this is the last edition of "The Nest" until late August/Early September. Have a phenomenal summer! We look forward to welcoming EVERYONE back in September!

Important District Notices and Information
May is dedicated to Middlesex's 1st Annual All-District Art's Festival. This year’s inaugural event included student work that has been inspired by various artists and cultures throughout history.
We extend a very special thank you to the Middlesex School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department. This group of talented, passionate, and dedicated educators has spent a considerable amount of time planning and preparing for this event. We also applaud our Board of Education for the enduring support of the Arts here in Middlesex Borough. Now more than ever, the arts provide an opportunity to celebrate many of the most important tenets of our civilization, including diversity, equity, and inclusivity. We are all proud - beyond words - of our scholar artists and we cannot wait for you to see what they have been working on throughout the school year.
We invite you to step inside our virtual event as the proverbial curtain lifts on what will undoubtedly be a celebration of the arts for years to come!
Congratulations to all of our scholar artists!
