MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS

27th Edition: April 7, 2017

Pilgrims on the Way of Truth

This morning, our Marian community was deeply saddened to learn of the death of junior Tyler Gardner after a long battle with cancer. Today's all-school mass was dedicated to Tyler, and gave our grieving students and staff an opportunity to come together as a family and support one another. Teachers, staff, administrators, and guidance counselors were on hand today to help support the students in any way they needed, and we will continue to do so throughout the coming school days. We are blessed to have had Tyler in our lives, and we ask for your continual prayers for the entire Gardner family. Please also pray for our students as they take this heartfelt journey through grief over their dear classmate. If you need any additional support to help your student through this difficult time, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will help however we are able.

Based on parent demand, Mrs. Hilton and Mrs. Littner are offering a Junior Year Boot Camp to help soon-to-be juniors begin to prepare for the rigors and stress of next fall. Attached you will find a letter which will give you details about the content, dates, and cost of the camp, as well as a registration form. This camp will be held from June 12-June 15th. Interested in Taking Community College Courses During High School? Please read this important message!

Students who are considering taking a course at their community college this summer should be aware that it cannot be anything that is required by Marian Central for graduation. You will need to meet with your counselor to get permission to take a class and to possibly get high school credit for it, too, in addition to the college credit that you will be receiving. Typically the colleges also have a form that you must fill out and bring to your counselor to sign giving you permission to take the class.

McHenry County College's registration for summer classes opened on March 13th. The information you will need to enroll in one of their classes for summer can be found by going to http://www.mchenry.edu/runningstart/index.asp.

Elgin Community College's registration for summer classes opens on April 17th. The information you will need to enroll in one of their classes for summer can be found by going to http://elgin.edu/students.aspx?id=406.

Harper College's registration for summer classes is already open. The information you will need to enroll in one of their classes for the summer can be found by going to http://goforward.harpercollege.edu/start/highschool/concurrent.php.

Please contact our Guidance department should you have any questions or concerns!
