This style of music emerged primarily due to African American migrations into the interior of the United States that as former slaves that placed them at close proximity with white individuals and allowed for the fusing and combining of cultural traditions that led to the creation and propagation of this style of music. The creation of innovations such as the electric guitar, the synthesizer, the microphone, and amplifier also allowed for rock and roll to develop and become popular
