WBMS Friday Notes
Sept 25th-29th
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
What a week! We finished IOWA testing in 8th grade, hosted an amazing book fair and BINGO night, and cheered on our undefeated soccer team! We celebrated our September Webster awards in the areas of Academics, Arts, Altruism and Athletics and started “Connect” – a new part of Advisory for our 7th and 8th graders. Students selected from a variety of enrichment activities and spent time with like-minded students and a staff member to “connect” through a common interest like – building with Legos, playing board games, and learning how to practice yoga, dance, and understand the stock market.
Our students continue to astound me each week with their enthusiasm, kindness, and inquisition. They participate regularly and actively in their classes and engage in the betterment of the overall school and community. This week several students or groups of students have brought forth ideas and plans for improving WBMS and/or enhancing our greater community. These are the moments my heart grows. WBMS students desire improvement – for themselves, their school, and their community. We are well on our way to achieving our vision – to develop our students into well-rounded, self-sufficient scholars who are prepared for high school and beyond. They are determined to make their world a better place and our staff is committed to inspiring and supporting their efforts.
Please remember students will not have school October 5th, 6th, or 9th. Enjoy this time with family and friends.
I hope this weekend is filled with both adventure and restfulness.
In collaboration,
Rebecca Williams Perkins
Principal, Webb Bridge Middle School

Members Rishi Kumar, Vignesh Suresh Kumar, Abhiram Dasari, Pranav Kalaga, Sameer Jivangikar, Tanush Prathi, and team captain Austin Huang placed in the top 8 teams and although they lost in the quarterfinals to a VERY competitive team from North Gwinnett Middle School, they scored 210 points in that last round which is a GREAT accomplishment. Their placement in the competition earned them a traditional slice of pie which they enjoyed after finishing their last round. Digital Citizenship for Families
WBMS parents and guardians are encouraged to join Alpharetta High and Hopewell Middle Schools’ parents and guardians on Monday, October 2nd, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Alpharetta High School Media Center for the first of three WBMS programs on digital citizenship for families. Detective Laurie Nicholson from the Alpharetta Police Department has been working crimes against children for approximately 5 years, with 10 years of previous experience in APD working a variety of different positions from Patrol to DUI. In this session, she will address some of the issues our students are encountering on the internet and what parents and guardians can do to help their children in this area.
All students at Webb Bridge receive instruction in digital citizenship to help them make responsible, smart, and ethical online decisions. Our hope is that parents and guardians will join us in this effort. In addition to these in-person programs, Common Sense Media (primary digital citizenship resource for Fulton County Schools) offers an online Connecting Families program which includes a toolkit with videos, discussion guidelines, and template family agreements at http://bit.ly/CSMDigCitFamily

Meetings and Public Comment
Webb Bridge’s School Governance Council meets in the morning one Friday each month in room 116; our next meeting is October 20th @ 7:30 in the PLR room. We hold a Public Comment period starting at 8:10 AM. Please feel free to attend and help us start our planning! If you cannot come to issue public comments, please fill out the form below.
What is SGC?
The Webb Bridge School Governance Council is already hard at work this year. When Fulton County became a Charter System, School Governance Councils were created to reflect the stakeholders for each school – faculty, parents, and community members. The School Governance Council concentrates on the culture, identity, and mission of Webb Bridge and are tasked with creating the Strategic Plan for our school. As the district Strategic Plan was updated this summer, this fall the School Governance Council will be working on creating our new, updated Strategic Plan for Webb Bridge.
Strategic Plan
Our updated plan will be built “bucket by bucket” to align with the districts new Strategic Plan. We are incorporating results of our Needs Assessment Data and using your feedback to update our Strategic Plan.
The Fulton County Strategic Plan: http://www.fultonschools.org/en/Pages/StrategicPlan2022.aspx
The first “bucket” we will work on for our Strategic Plan will be Student Achievement – how we can better prepare students academically to have the foundations and skills needed to navigate life beyond graduation.
