Welcome Ms. Roach!

Ms. Danielle Roach is an intern from HR who will be on our team for the last two weeks of school. As a graduate of NGHS and an aspiring teacher from Emmanuel College, we are fortunate to have her join us. She has already started assisting us with our just-in-time needs and end of year processes. Please join me in extending a warm Suwanee ES welcome to Ms. Roach!

Energy Efficiency

As you all pack up for summer, please take your refrigerators, lamps, and any other appliances/lighting home with you, as we are not to have them at school. Each school year we are reminded that these items are to be kept at home due to the need for energy efficiency-doing our part at Suwanee ES. If you have a medical need or other previously approved exception to this practice, please email me so we can make the necessary arrangements for you prior to August 2016.

Local School Council-Teacher Representative

Teachers,

Ms. Head served two years on Local School Council, which is the term for this position. Please nominate a colleague or yourself to replace Ms. Head on LSC for the 2016-2017 & 2017-2018 school years by emailing Ms. Brown-Townsend or me.

A BIG thank you to Ms. Head for her leadership! She provided valuable insight and recommendations on LSC. We truly appreciate her service in this role.

We look forward to hearing from the next LSC member!

Emily

Reading Recovery Data

In tracking student data for students exited from Reading Recovery in first grade, we had 4/5 students who are now on grade level again in 5th grade after working with Dr. Knowles and the 5th grade team. Great work team in reaching and teaching these students!

CLT & Committees

Tuesday, May 17 from 3:15-4:15:

During your CLT meetings, please begin to look at your DA data and conduct the Data Dive using our District Assessment Data Questions. Grade chairs can bring the summary of areas of strengths, areas for improvement, and celebrations for their overall grade level performance to ILT on Tuesday, May 24.

Each teacher should update their EOY spreadsheet and RBES Results and Conclusions in the Portal (attaching data) by May 20. After doing so, Ms. Keag or Ms. Martinez can initial your EOY checklist for this item.

*Reminders: Part B of DA is due to Dee Dee by 4:30 PM on Tuesday, May 17; Conversion charts were emailed by Ms. Martinez and are posted in C&I; please see Dee Dee's email for the grade reporting timeline.

Tuesday, May 17 from 4:15-4:30:

Committee meetings in the committee chair's classroom (or other location as communicated by the chair) to close out this school year and plan dates for next school year's functions on the school's master calendar.

Discipline Committee-Second Meeting

Ms. Head and Dr. Knowles will meet with the discipline committee on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:45 PM in the Mind Meld room.

TIMMS & eClass Wrap UP-Thursday, Professional Learning

This week we will discuss EOY Course Pages and TIMMS information. Please come prepared to hide and/or put into draft Discussion Topics. We will also take an EOY Survey. Dee Dee looks forward to seeing you then!

ILT-LSPI Final Meeting

ILT Members,

Please plan on meeting in the Mind Meld room from 3:15-4:15 on Tuesday, May 24 to write the final summary of our LSPI data. Please bring your grade level summaries/analysis and grade level data from Schoolnet.

Thank you,

Emily

EOY Checklist

The EOY Checklist for every faculty and staff member on the team at Suwanee. This year we are streamlining a few of our check in processes and tasks to simplify closing out the year. These changes reflect in how you check in technology and review the permanent records. As you complete each item, outlined on the checklist or month-at-a-glance calendar, please secure the initials of the person who receives information or materials from you.

Despite the wonderful helpers that we have, please refrain from allowing or asking students to assist you in packing. As you know from years past, we need to maintain an environment conducive to new learning each day until the students dismiss for summer on May 25.

If you have any questions, please see Ms. Brown-Townsend, Ms. Martinez, or Ms. Keag.

Substitutes-Action Required

Every employee is expected to secure a substitute for their position, whether it is a half day or a full day. The sub must post to your position to fill the request. Splitting classes is not desirable for your teammates or students, and we do not have the staff in the front office to cover classes or call subs for individuals. Every employee must follow the leave process. If you have questions about this process (explained during pre planning), please see Ms. Brown-Townsend immediately. It is a professional expectation that employees have coverage when they are out of the building. If you need to submit a request any time after 10:00 PM prior to your absence, then you must call my cell phone directly and email me. My number is listed on the phone tree in C&I. Thank you for taking the necessary steps for Team Suwanee when you need to be out of the building so teaching and learning remain the focus at our school.
