Lil Steamer Families --
Following our construction project meeting this morning, I wanted to give you a quick update. Our construction safety fence won't likely be installed until Monday, February 12 so changes to our morning drop-off procedures may not take affect until Monday the 12th or Tuesday the 13th. As a reminder, we will have safety barricades to mark off the area of the bus lane that vehicles may not enter (the last stretch by the flagpole).
We appreciate the patience and grace you have show so far as we've updated our pick-up procedures. We will continue to communicate with you as construction begins and as the process continues. Thank you!

Tips to Help Children with Organization Skills
1. Break tasks into chunks.
Help kids break school projects or household chores into smaller, more manageable steps. This will show them that each project has a beginning, middle, and end, which can make projects feel less overwhelming. For example, if your child’s nightly chore is to clear the table, explain: First, scrape any food scraps into the garbage. Then load the dishes into the dishwasher. Then wipe the counters.
2. Make checklists and to-do lists.
Once kids know all the steps involved with a particular task, help them add it to an overall to-do list. Include regular homework and chores on the list. Encourage kids to keep the list in a place where they’ll see it often and can check off accomplishments as they go. Some kids might create their list using a smartphone app. Others may write it on a dry-erase board in their bedroom or print out a list to carry around throughout the day.
3. Teach calendar and time management skills.
Encourage kids to write down important tasks on a calendar (digital or paper). Then help them estimate how much time each task will take. After they complete a task, ask whether the time estimate was accurate or not. If needed, suggest adjustments for next time. It may also help to have kids write the due date directly on school assignments.

3B Happenings
3B has enjoyed time working with their Kindergarten Buddies in KB. We enjoy the time spent with our Kindergarten Buddies. It is always great to spend time with them. It allows for the 3rd graders to be great role models to our Capturing Kids Heart focus of the month. This month we will begin focused on Kindness. To kick off our kindness lessons we started with a kindness snowball fight! We had to write a kind thing about a classmate and all throw our snowballs in the middle of the room. We then got to one by one read our kindness snowball to the class and figure out who it was written about. It was great to hear and see so many nice things!
2B Place Value is Triple Fun!
2B is hard at work learning about place value up to 1,000! This week the class competed against each other to see who could win the Place Value Triple Spin game. Two teams had to work together to make the smallest or largest number to beat the other team. RED TEAM WON!!
Bundles of fun in 2D!!
2D bundled popsicle sticks to count to 100 and then on to 1000! They worked as a group to count out piles of ten and then put them together to count to 100. We then worked as a class to count our bundles of 100's and 10's and our extra sticks to see how many we had. We had 937 sticks! We then figured out how many more sticks we would need to get to 1000!!
