Born February 24, 1500 and died September 21, 1558, Charles V was a Holy Roman Emperor, King of Spain, and Archduke of Australia. He is also known as Charles I of Spain, He fought against Protestantism, and inherited a Spanish and Habsburg empire extending across Europe.
