Covid19 Message to Parents/Guardians
On 11/20/2020, we received notification that an individual at SD ECLC has a laboratory confirmed case of Covid19. Upon receiving this information, the Monmouth County Health Department was contacted. The Health department collected information about the case and directed the school how to proceed.
As directed by the County Health Department, contact tracing was put in place by myself and our school nurses. This process requires the school to identify all individuals who came in close contact with the Covid19 positive individual.(11/18, 11/19, or 11/20). "Close contact" is 15 minutes or more of cumulative contact over a 24 hour period. After carefully reviewing class rosters, bus lists, attendance records, staffing placements, before/aftercare attendance and special class schedules we identified all individuals who were exposed. Next, phone calls were placed to these individuals to inform them that they will need to quarantine for 14 days.
After we placed our phone calls, Dr. Ridley, Superintendent of Schools sent a Realtime Notification to the community. Please see the message below:

Dear school community,
This letter is to inform you that an individual associated with the Sycamore Drive Early Childhood Learning Center has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The District is coordinating closely with public health officials and following CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our community.
Contact tracing has been completed at this time, and all close contacts were notified and, if necessary, quarantined. Cleaning and disinfecting of all exposed areas and equipment is being carried out.
We understand the level of concern regarding COVID-19. We encourage parents and students to continue following the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention promoted safeguards, such as:
Staying home when you are sick;
Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing of tissues;
Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils;
Practicing social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart);
Wearing a face covering while in school;
Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms.
During this health emergency, you are encouraged to observe your child for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and contact your child’s physician and the school nurse if any are noted. Also, please notify the school nurse if your child tests positive for COVID-19. If you have specific concerns or questions about your child’s health, contact your healthcare provider
I hope that this message answers some of your questions and alleviates some anxiety.
