What is an Integer

An integer is a whole number that can be positive, negative.

Adding integers

Two like signs become a positive sign

Two unlike signs become a negative sign

-3+(-2)= -5

-8+(-2)= -10

-4+(-3)= -7

Subtracting Integers

1. Two negative become a positive sign

2. one positive sign and one negative sign become a negative sign

3. An always put the sign of the highest integer


5+(-2)= 3

4+(-4)= 0

6+(-2)= 4

Multiplying Integers

1.The product of a positive integer and a negative integer is a negative integer.

2. The product of two negative integers or two positive integers is a positive integer.





3x(-3)= -9

-5x(-5)= 25

-6x(2)= -12

Dividing Integers

1.The product of a positive integer and a negative integer is a negative integer.

2. The product of two negative integers or two positive integers is a positive integer.


-6/2=-3

-8/-2=4

18/-6=-3
