Final Week of Instruction Updates ~ 5/18/2020
Good Morning Choir Fam,
Baby Garcia is currently the size of a Honeydew Melon, Week 33! We got to see him on the ultrasound again and everything looks healthy =)
This week is most of a final quick catch-up week with some built in celebration/social events. I have posted two reflective questions on the Google Classroom as well as a easy choice board that required no attachments or forms. They can choose to record/post a final "good thing" with the links provided in the slides for their classmates to see. Otherwise Tuesday & Wednesday Office hours are actually going to be our "Choir Awards" and a "Final Choir Social" from noon till 1pm-ish.
If any student has any questions or concerns about their participation for the semester please have them check out Student Assignment Tracker link (Image below) for any missing assignments. If a student is highlighted in green this means that they should be receiving a "P" for this grading period. If a student is any other color it may mean that I haven't updated it yet or that they have something missing but still have a chance! I sent multiple emails to all students missing assignments (gmail) but not all students have responded or followed through. Two-Way Communication is the only way I can truly provide help.
Houston Trip Updates
The latest updates are still as of 4/8/2020. The latest direct contact only clarified that offices involved have remain closed all this time and no updates have been received on their end yet. We will send out a more direct email about true updates as soon as they arrive. Thank you for your continued patience.
Varsity Ladies Choir Students will be returning UIL choir dresses this Thursday May 21st. Please read below for details. Please note normal office hours are affected by this since I will be on campus.
Please note my Maternity Leave Announcement is included at the bottom of this newsletter =)
As always I am a text, email, comment, call away should any question or concerns arise. Advisory Check-in will still be held today from 12:30- 1:30pm for all second period choir students. Office Hours will be only be Tuesday & Wednesday this week however should any student need more help do not hesitate to reach out via any method (forms of contact at bottom) and I will be happy to arrange a time to help out directly.

UIL CHOIR DRESS RETURN
NOTE: One of Varsity Choir's Final Assignments will be to answer a question about Dress Drop Off on Classroom =)
This week along with other school programs, choir will have a "station" to return all UIL Choir Dresses. If you are receiving this email then your daughter should have received a required black choir dress prior to Spring Break. Unfortunately we weren't able to use them but we do require them back for they are school/district property.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRESS RETURN: If you can, please machine wash and hang dry prior to return. Regardless if washed or not, please bag up the dress (I recommend a trash bag, it's okay if you fold the dress), tie it then label it with the students first & last name. You will show the student's name at the station, before dropping into the box/bin and driving on to your next destination. If you have lost the hanger that came with it, that is not a concern at this time. If you can replace the hanger, go for it, otherwise we will make due without for now.
Please refer to the attached instructions for all campus details on where and when to drop off. This includes Athletics, Chromebooks, Library, Dance & More!

Mrs. Garcia Maternity Leave Fall 2020
The current plan is to return to the classroom by Mid October in time to spruce up a few songs for a fun fall concert. Our baby boy is officially due early July so I will be mostly unavailable come July. In the next few weeks I plan to distribute some preliminary school year information to our choir families signed up for next year however please understand that the majority of information/updated may not begin to be processed until my return in October. With that being said, I will arrange for online choir fee payments to begin the school year however please do not send any physical forms of payment with students until my return.
It hurts my heart that not only have we lost so much time with students in these last couple of months but now I will also miss our hopeful return to the choir room in the fall. It is my hope that all my students know how much I care for them and that I will be back as soon as possible. I have mentioned in the past that my choir students have already been like family to me and I hope to continue that bond moving forward.
As we get ready for my leave, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I may not have thought of certain details that you could all assist with as I get as much as I can ready. Please understand that due to FMLA regulations I will not be reachable as soon as my official leave begins which I plan to send out along with the official baby announcement =)
