Engaging Students...Engaging Families!
The Hamilton Hoopla, Rock Your School - Minions are all about learning, Watch DOGS, and coming soon... Math/Science Night - November 17th is bringing students and families together to celebrate learning at Hamilton and the importance of our school-to-home partnership. The staff and PTO of Hamilton deserve the credit for these amazing events taking place to encourage our students wanting to be at school and inviting their families in on the fun! Likewise, I am proud to showcase the talents of our staff and students that bring these activities to a whole new level of fun! We know student engagement influences our students being at school and being at school supports student learning! The future success of your child starts now by working together to ensure they are in school every day receiving the education they deserve to learn and thrive.
Upcoming events in the month of November:
- Veterans Day on Friday, November 11th. We invite our students to celebrate their family members who are serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces for a short morning program and breakfast. (Information will be coming home with your child soon.)
- Math/Science Night on Thursday, November 17th. We invite you to come enjoy some pizza and to have fun learning the math and science activities that we have ready to share with you!
It is our commitment to continue to welcome families to help plan and engage in these events so we can deliver the quality you expect from Hamilton! Please consider joining our Hamilton PTO. Our next PTO meeting coincides with Math/Science Night on November 17th so feel free to stop by and check it out.
We appreciate you!

Stem Night
Our STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) night is right around the corner. This year's STEM night is on Thursday, November 17 from 5-6:30. We are so excited to see our families having fun together and doing hands-on activities. Food will be provided, so come on out and join us for a night of fun and smiles.
Scooter City
In the gym students will have the opportunity to go through our Scooter City! It is one giant obstacle course where students get to use scooters, the climbing wall, cargo net, and rope swing. This will be up for 2 weeks so each class gets the chance to go through this 4 times. Scooter City is one of the student's favorite things to do in the gym and everyone is excited for it to start!

Cold weather is coming
Please keep in mind all children go outside for recess if the temperature is 0 degrees or higher and windchill is -10 or higher.
Help them be comfortable during playtime outside by sending your child to school with mittens, a hat, winter coat, snow pants and boots!
Winter weather reminders
Minnesota weather is shifting gears, and the Anoka-Hennepin School District has plans in place for when extreme winter weather arrives.
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in adverse weather. If a determination is made to close school due to extreme winter weather, the district will alert families in a variety of ways, including:
Phone, text or email message from AHlert system (for Anoka-Hennepin parents/guardians only).
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
Those responsible for activities scheduled in schools over the weekend will determine if adverse weather conditions necessitate a cancellation.
Read more about the district’s policies on extreme winter weather at ahschools.us/weather.
From the District
Parent Advisory Committee for Racial and Ethnic Equity announces meeting schedule for 2022-23
Join parents and guardians of students of color from around the district for updates, discussion and action planning as part of the Parent Advisory Committee for Racial and Ethnic Equity (PACREE).
Increasing involvement from parents and guardians in education to impact educational outcomes and supporting a sense of belonging in school is the driving force behind PACREE. The group will hold a session covering a different topic each month in support of students and in alignment with the Anoka-Hennepin Equity Achievement Plan, a coordinated effort to promote high academic achievement for all students and eliminate predictable gaps amongst student groups. Visit ahschools.us/equityachievementplan for additional information.
Meetings will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. and will be offered in a virtual format on the following dates: Oct. 18, Nov. 15, Dec. 13, Jan. 17, Feb. 14, March 21, April 18, May 16.
For additional information and to get involved with PACREE sessions, please contact Darron Sherrill, assistant director of students services - diversity, equity and inclusion at darron.sherrill@ahschools.us or Rahmo Ali, cultural liaison, at rahmo.ali@ahschools.us.
