The Plot
Rodrick and Greg's parents go out of town for a night. They tell them they aren't allowed to have anyone over. The first thing Rodrick does is text his friends and tell them that there is a party at his place. After Greg helps Roderick setup for the party, Rodrick tricks Greg into going down into the basement to get more chairs. Once Greg is in the basement Roderick locks him down there because he doesn't want his little brother at his high school party.
I liked this novel
I enjoyed it because it was funny and it was very simple and not some intense book like 50 Shades of Grey. My favorite part was when they threw a party at their house.
I thought it was pretty funny when the house was completely trashed after everyone left. I would not change anything because it is pretty good as is. I like the characters because they are witty and funny. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny books that aren't too intense.

Type of language
The type of language used is colloquial. One example of figurative language is when Greg's mom says, "I have told you a million times to clean your room!" Another example is when Rowley says to Greg, "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse." The level of language in this book is very easy to follow so unless you are dumb you should be able to follow it.
