Science and Social Studies Connecting in 5th Grade
They are also writing about the Dakota Pipeline and starting to learn about the American Revolution in Social Studies.
These interdisciplinary concepts about how the natural environment and access to natural resources have impacted history and society is a fascinating way for students to link science and social studies across content through reading and writing.

Report Cards: Social Studies and Science
Reminder that Social Studies and Science are part of the expectation to be shared with parents. If you didn't mention this on your report cards, please mention in parent conferences.
On the next report card, please include at least the content you are working on.
Example: “In social studies, students are learning X and in science we are working on Y".
Social Studies and science are required parts of the curriculum and are an essential part of reading and writing in the content areas.
Assessment Issues?
Math C-EOU
We agreed as a staff not to scan the Math C-EOU tests into illuminate, however these still need to be graded and you should analyze the data with your grade level team in order to calibrate.

Holiday Party Countdown!
Wednesday, December 14 (time: 2-4pm, place: TBD). This event will be a potluck as well as a White Elephant Gift Exchange Party (yep, we're bringing it back!). The GSC will provide paper products and beverages. You will provide the food - so start thinking about that special recipe that you like to make...and a wacky gift that you would like to offload! White elephant gifts should be gifts you have around that aren't a "match" for you, but may be a match for others. Can be funny (or not)...
One Warm Coat Drive is Starting
Glenview will be collecting coats/jackets to donate to St. Vincent de Paul's of Oakland on West Grand from now until end of January. Please bring in gently used or new washed coats!
