Hop To It! Read This Summer!

Summer Reading Program

It is so important for students to continue reading this summer. Did you know that reading just 20 minutes per day during the summer prevents the summer slide? Research shows that students that do not read during the summer actually slide backwards academically in starting the next school year! It can take weeks to just catch back up to where they were when they left school for the summer. Please encourage reading at your house this summer--it can make all the difference for your child!

On Monday, May 16, we will be hosting Kate Jacobson from the Acworth Branch of Cobb County Public Library. She will be talking to students about the importance of reading and what fun things will be happening at Cobb County Libraries this summer. If you don't have a library card, please apply for one! The Acworth Branch has movies, books on CD, electronic books for personal devices and even good old-fashioned paper books! Seriously, though, the library can be a great outing for students every week. Check them out!
