JHYM NEWSLETTER
November 2022
Hi all! Welcome to November!
Wow the last month has been absolutely crazy and amazing at the same time! I have been blown away by the love and support by many, including many of the Junior High Youth!
This past month during connection hour, we have been focusing on the curriculum REAL where we’ve talked about what makes relationships real. The really real reality of REAL has reeled me in! I’ve been impressed by the relational wisdom our Junior High youth have expressed due to a great family and relationship focused community we have at Zion.
We also got to do some serving where we built a little library for the trailer park community down the street from Zion. It’s a way to show God’s love to that community with opportunities for them to read! We will also be painting the little library soon to give it a colorful and welcoming look! Very proud of what we built! Plus we got to enjoy snacks and a movie right after that, so that was a major bonus as well!
This month we will be looking forward to serving again with Wurstbraten (the most impressive sausage fundraiser I have ever seen!), finishing up REAL and starting a new series in connection hour, celebrating fall and fellowship with our bonfire, and giving more information and support to all the parents in our parent meeting!
I want to thank you all for welcoming me so warmly to Zion and I so look forward to caring, teaching, and hopefully inspiring the Junior High Youth to rely more on Christ every day. Thank you to Ms. Leticia for helping me feel comfortable and supported, and for doing an incredible job of building this ministry up. But don’t worry! She’ll still be around as long as she wants!
God’s blessings on your month as we focus on family, friends, and being thankful for all God has given us,
Ms. Laura-Li
Little Library - Part 1
Part 2 will be painting and Part 3 will be final installation. Look for those dates to come. We hope your teen will take part in this community project along with us!
CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
What We Are Learning in November & December
HALO: A STUDY FROM THE GOSPELS ON CHRISTMAS
SERIES OVERVIEW:
There are certain things that make Christmas really feel like Christmas, right? Christmas trees, holly, candy canes, nativity sets, that one Christmas album your family can’t get enough of . . . oh! And angels. If you pay attention, you’ll find them everywhere this Christmas season. They’re on Christmas trees, ornaments, and greeting cards. They’re in Christmas carols, movies, and nativity sets. And they’re all over the pages of Scripture, too. That’s because angels played an important role in the very first Christmas. In this four-week series from the Gospels, we’ll pay close attention to the announcements the angels made surrounding Jesus’ birth. Together, we’ll see why the messages the angels shared back then still matter today — like the message that God’s timing is always right, that Jesus is always good news, that we can always share God’s story, and that God is always ready to rescue.
