8th Grade Weekly News
Week of December 2nd-6th
General News!
Happy December!
Welcome Back! We hope you all had a wonderful break, and that your children are ready to get back to work and finish up our 1st semester with a bang!
As we approach the mid- point of our school year, there seems to be a growing concern about grades. Generally speaking students who have grades falling below the 70% line are generally missing assignments either due to absence or simply not completing the assignment and turning it in in a timely manner. You can view any notes the teacher has left about the assignment by pressing the VIEW button in PowerSchool.
The best way to get these grades up to where they should be, is to take advantage of our before and after school help. Zero Period will be available until Dec. 18th, but this week, December 4th & 5th are the last opportunities for Power Hour before Winter Break. These are both great ways to get some extra help and support, and get yourself back on track to start the new year fresh! Please remember eighth graders get picked up at the end of the 8th grade hallway in the bus loop. If they have younger siblings staying after school too, they will be asked to join us on 8th grade hall.
Calling all authors! The Young Georgia Authors contest is coming up soon! This contest can include short stories, poetry, personal narratives, essays, and so much more. If you love to write here is a great opportunity. Entries must be original work...no help from friends, family, or teachers. See your ELA teacher for further details or any questions you may have. All entries will be due to your ELA teacher by January 22nd.(1900 word maximum length)
