Challenge Overview for Week 8
Challenge A
- Look for Latin in the artisan bread isle at the grocery store, on a bumper sticker, on money, on the buildings in your city, and in scientific classifications. Share your Latin sightings in seminar.
- Draw and Label the Skeleton.
- Read about Refutation in your LTW Student Workbook.
Challenge B
- Examine the Legal codes on pp. 70–72 of your Mock Trial Notebook.
- As you read "Defeating Darwinism," prepare to discuss naturalistic worldview versus the Christ-centered worldview.
- Keep the concept of "plot" in mind as you read the story “A White Heron”
Challenge I
- Read "The Money Mystery" pp. 18–41. Write a brief summary of each chapter, and be prepared to discuss it in class.
- Read "Math In Motion", Chapter 9, “Triads and Triad Qualities.”
- Create an outline for your comparison essay using "Up From Slavery" and "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass."
Challenge II
- Translate assigned lines from “Revolt Along the Seacoast”
- Composition Due Week 9: What makes a mystery worth reading? Do any of these stories meet your expectations? Compare examples from Favorite Father Brown Stories and A Morbid Taste for Bones to support your argument.
- Study Experiment 14.3, “Cross Sections of Roots, Stems, and a Leaf.”
