Welcome to ENGL250

Research & Writing II

Big image

First and foremost, let me welcome you to class. We cover a lot of important concepts in this course, and it's a lot of work, but I think you'll find what you learn here very useful.

I'm incredibly excited to work with you this session and challenge you to truly engage with this course. Build a learning network with your classmates and with me, and you'll find yourself taking away a great deal of information you can use as you move into your chosen career.

What is ENGL250?

This course builds on the research and writing skills developed in the previous English course. Students make critical decisions about the research necessary to produce diverse writings appropriate in content, format, and documentation. Students will use their research to produce presentations to positively affect varied audiences.

Why take this class?

You are on a wonderful journey to a new and exciting career. One of the skills you will need as you move forward is effective communication skills. ENGL250 will help you develop into strong, effective writers which, as you will come to see, is one of the most highly-prized skills potential employees can possess.

Things to remember...

Discussion is, in my opinion, one of the most important elements of this class. The discussion boards are where the bulk of your active learning will take place. You will engage with your classmates and your instructor to talk about, think about, and dive into the course content. Please make sure you are actively participating in the weekly discussion.

Please review the discussion rubric to see what the weekly requirements are...don't forget you need to participate over the course of the week and interact with several of your classmates and/or me.

I also want to remind you to take advantage of my office hours if you have any questions or concerns. The date and time are listed in the Supplemental Syllabus.
