Achievement Application & Career Portfolios Due October 1!!!

It's time again to submit your 4-H Achievement Applications and Career Portfolios as the 4-H year nears completion. Last year was the first opportunity to use the Achievement Award Application, and was met with some hesitation from our 4-H families, so at the county level for selection of county awards only, 4-H members can choose to submit a Career Portfolio or the Achievement Application.

The Achievement Application will be used at the state level to selection winners for 4-H Congress, Conference, scholarships, and other leadership opportunities that arise statewide. By having one single form that more closely resembles the kinds of questions being asked on college applications and in resumes, 4-H’ers will be better prepared to be college and job ready while keeping a record of the achievements. This form was piloted last year and will be used as an alternative to the Career Portfolio. This form is much shorter and easier to use than the Career Portfolio.

The Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application can be found at: https://4h.unl.edu/achievement-application.

The Nebraska 4-H Career Portfolio form can be found at: https://4h.unl.edu/awards-recognition/career-portfolio.

All Achievement Applications and Career Portfolios are due in the office by Tuesday, October 1st! Let us know as you have questions.

4-H Council Senior Scholarships & Diamond Clover Forms Due Oct 1!

Don’t forget that 4-H Council Senior Scholarships and Diamond Clover forms are all due in the office by Tuesday, October 1st. You must turn in an award application/career portfolio to be eligible for the livestock auction scholarship and county awards. More information is available online at https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/jefferson/4-Hforms/. There is a letter with the application forms as well with instructions on how to fill out the forms for certain awards. If you need a copy of your Diamond Clover form that was submitted in April, please call the office and we can send it to you. Also, if you would like to have a copy of the application forms mailed to you please contact the office.

Achievement Award Applications/Career Portfolio Judges

Volunteers will be needed to read a neighboring county’s books sometime in October. If you are interested in helping, please call the Extension Office and offer your services. Benefits include: learning how other 4-H’ers fill-out their books, finding new ideas for projects and visiting with other 4-H volunteers about the recording process.

Red Wheel Fundraiser

We will begin selling Red Wheel the first week of October as a fund raiser for those 4-H’ers that are interested in going on the Washington D.C. 4-H trip. Order forms will be mailed out the first of the week, and selling for the entire month. Please contact the office if your child is interested in selling Red Wheel so we can mail you out a packet of information.

Orders are due in the office Friday, November 1st.

Delivery will be Saturday, November 23, (presorted) in Wilber at 8 a.m.

**If a county sells 250 items they will earn delivery to their office.

4-H’ers earn 40% of their proceeds which is then applied to their WDC trip costs.
