This Week at Lenape
Spring Band Concert
Congratulations to the Lenape Band under the direction of Mr. Sean Cohen! They put on another fantastic show on Wednesday evening, themed "Into the Inferno". So much practice and hard work goes into these events, both in and out of school, and it certainly showed!
I&E Gardening
Lenape students spent some time gardening during Mr. Menta's I&E session this week, with some help from Ms. Axenroth and Ms. Nolan! These gardens will produce veggies all summer, which are donated to local families in need.
Freshmen Mural
We are in the process of collecting current photos of rising 9th graders for our freshmen picture mural. 8th grade students can submit their photos by dropping them off at the main office (please put your name on the back) or by emailing them to Mrs. Hackman at bhackmanmaritz@cbsd.org. Please submit your photo by Friday, June 9th.
Photos can be of individual students or groups of students but should only have current Lenape 8th grade students pictured.
Algebra Keystone - May 17 & 18
The Algebra Keystone will be administered on May 17 and 18 to all students who are enrolled in Algebra I or Algebra IB or any student who did not pass the Keystone last year. The tests will be taken using paper and pencil booklets. Students should plan to arrive on time and bring their calculator, water, something to eat, and a book to read when they're finished. The tests will be proctored by Lenape math teachers over periods 1, 2, and I&E on both days.

Officials/Referees/Umpires Needed!
It is becoming increasingly difficult to secure officials/referees/umpires, and this issue is anticipated to get worse over the next several years. The PIAA is looking to build its officials ranks. If interested, please visit Become an Official - PIAA. Additionally, students who are 16 years old or older have a special opportunity from the PIAA. The PIAA has waived the fee for its Junior Officials Program. All students who go through the course will then have the opportunity to make money officiating middle school through 9th grade sports. For more information, please visit Junior Officials Program.pdf (piaa.org).
HVAC Phase 3
Phase 3 involves the closure and relocation of classrooms 233 (Blair), 234 (Casciole), 235 (Tennett), 236 (Caldwell), 237 (Greenbaum), and 509 (DiFranceisco). Strings classes have relocated to the auditorium and band room.
Crochet Club Donations Needed
The Crochet Club is in need of your donations of leftover yarn and/or fleece material you may have around your home. We use the fleece, which we cut into 15 inch squares, to learn how to crochet. We then gather the squares together to make a 9 square blanket. We also use the yarn to create granny squares for blankets. Some of our members have been making their own clothes and stuffed animals. Your donations can be delivered to the main office. Thank you in advance!

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
