Principal's Message
We've seen a big improvement to our arrival and dismissal. Thank you so much for following the safety procedures.
STARTING MONDAY: the LC provided YELLOW card must be displayed in the car window at parent pick up. We will not release any student if the card is not displayed.
- No homemade signs are accepted.
- Any cars that do not have the card displayed will have to pull out of line and go to the front of the school to show identification to the office.
- Please keep the card displayed until you pull out of the parking lot. It helps us move faster if we see the card when children exit the building.
- If you need another card, please contact Mrs. Freundt in the school office at 630-636-3271.
Kelley Budd
Principal
Starting Monday - Students will only be released to cars displaying the LC provided YELLOW card.
School-Wide Second Step Focus
Growth Mindset teaches us "I can get better at something with practice and effort."
Next week, your child should learn how to:
- Kindergarten: demonstrate they know ways to pay attention
- 1st Grade: demonstrate how they would pay attention in different scenarios
- 2nd Grade: identify things they've done to get better at a skill
- 3rd Grade: state what happens in their brain when they learn a new skill
- 4th Grade: use criteria to identify a class goal
- 5th Grade: identify a personal goal and explain why it is right for them
Child Sent Home Sick?
We know it can be kind of confusing and frustrating to have your child sent home from school.
You will receive a letter indicating that your child was identified as having COVID 19 symptoms, and must complete 10 calendar days of isolation.
In the event that he/she is out of school for an extended time, we will submit their information to our Temporary Distance Learning (TDL) Teacher, who will out to you soon regarding how to best support your child during their time away from school.
Also, we have Chromebooks available for you to sign out of the main office so that you child will have the technology needed to attend the TDL through Google Classroom. Please reach out and let the office know if you need a Chromebook and if so, when you would like to come and pick it up.
You are also welcome and encouraged to contact the teachers directly to set up a time to pick up materials.
When a student receives the "Symptomatic Letter," they do not have to quarantine for 10 days. They have the following options:
1. Complete the 10 day quarantine.
2. Have a negative rapid or PCR test (parent does not need to provide results to nurse), the symptomatic form just needs to be returned signed.
3. Have an alternative diagnosis from a physician (parent does not need to provide documentation), the symptomatic form needs to be returned signed.
Once we have received either of these, we will adjust your child's attendance to reflect that they are back in school.
While we understand that these circumstances may not be ideal for anyone, we appreciate you working with us to provide a safe and healthy environment for all of our students and staff at Lakewood Creek!
Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions.
