Middle School Weekly Communication
1st Full Week in the Books
Students are doing a great job learning routines, getting to class on time, staying engaged, and enjoying learning. We are proud of our students for getting organized and coming to class ready to learn. Please remember to check your child's backpack frequently and help take out any items not necessary.
When asking your middle school student about their day the more specific the questions the better the answers. What novel are you reading in ELA? Tell me about your science unit. What fun games did you play in PE? Who did you sit with at lunch?

Assessments
Assessments: Students will take both formative and summative assessments in middle and high school. Formative assessments are completed frequently in a variety of ways in which helps inform the teacher what instruction, standards, or skills need to be focused on. Summative assessments such as quizzes, tests, and standardized tests are provided to ensure students have shown proficiency in specific standards.
Starting September 20th students will begin to complete the NWEA assessment in math. The NWEA is an assessment that allows us to look at each student's individual growth year after year. This allows us to decide what skills need to be focused on and what skills already know. (Deficit, Grade level, or Acceleration) We use NWEA to support small group instruction for all students may it be needing additional support or additional challenge. If you want additional information please click the link below.
Athletic Eligibility
Starting next week we will run eligbility reports for athletes. Each Thursday reports are run to ensure student athletes are keeping up with their grades, assignments, and priorities. Please continue to support your child to completing assignments and homework on time.
If a student is failing a class they are not eligible to participate in games.
