Ride the Waves of Change
This week, we learned how all of us can relate the meaning of the noun aeipathy: an enduring and consuming passion. Ours is a journey filled with enduring and consuming passion, as so clearly evidenced the past few weeks of Distance Learning. As continual learners, let's review the word equanimity and how it relates to our situation, as shared by Aguilar in Onward:
Equanimity is a mental and emotional state that is invaluable when we're dealing with change. It can allow us to be open to outcomes, to look at a situation and say, "Right now, this is how things are," even if we don't like it or we wish it were different. Equanimity makes room for a fuller perspective on things. It isn't about repressing feelings or being indifferent or resigned; it is about accepting whatever is happening in a particular moment. By cultivating a state of equanimity, our attachment to outcomes gets a little looser. We can simultaneously remain open to outcomes and take action to stop or lead a change. (277-278)
Moving forward, challenge yourself to reflect on how you deal with change. How has your perspective changed since we began this journey a few short weeks ago? How might your perspective change moving forward based upon our new experiences? Hey Bulldog Team, We've Got This! Bulldog Pride is All Around Us!!

From the Office
- YOU ARE AMAZING!!
- Until we hear differently from Governor Walz, please include May 1 and 4 as non-instructional (planning) days.
- Class lists are due May 15. Please share your grade level's rubric of 'items to consider' with me (separate document is fine.) Thank you!
- If you haven't yet shared your SeeSaw, FlipGrid or Classrooms with Marie, Audra and Kim, please do so. They'll need access to retrieve valuable data for our Title and CEIS grants. Without Spring Fast and MCA assessments data due to Distance Learning, MDE recommends using classroom data for processing. Thank you! :)
- Please remember to include headphones in your classroom supply list in first-fifth grades. Headphones will be ordered for our kindergarten friends. :)
- Please share pics of distance learning in THIS FILE. I plan to use them in the very near future. Please keep adding! :)
- Please continue to link our One Stop Mental Health Shop in each of your family newsletters throughout the duration of Distance Learning. Thank you!
- Absences: Please record in Frontline. Teaching staff, if you are absent and unable to deliver instruction, please notify your students and families and if needed provide appropriate alternative communication. Paraprofessional staff, if you are absent and unable to complete your assigned duties, please contact your supervisor.
- Attendance: Please complete by 3:45 on Fridays. You need only mark on Fridays moving forward; the office will take it from there! Please see me with questions or concerns!
- If you receive any classroom placement form requests, please forward to Katie. They are due in the office April 24.
