The Hoot Owl

Welcome to ORE!

We are off to a great start this school year! It is so exciting to see our students engaged in learning and growing already. We are looking forward to an amazing year this year and are glad you are along for the journey.

Just a reminder that starting Tuesday, September 4, parents will not be allowed to walk students past the front office. We will have a few fourth graders on hand to escort students as needed.

School shirt

T-shirt order forms were sent home last week. We will take orders until September 11. If you are paying with a check, please make sure that you include your drivers license and birthday on the check. If you are paying cash, please send the exact amount. We do not have change on hand. We will have a limited supply of extra shirts so now is the time to make sure you order.

We still have over 200 families that have not updated information through SnapCode. Please take a moment to take care of this. We depend on updated information for a variety of reasons so it is important that we have the most current information on file. If you don't have your child's snapcode any longer, you may call the front office to obtain that code.

NEAT Club (Never Ever Absent or Tardy)

Attendance at school is vital for the learning process. We have brought back our NEAT Club this school year. Each nine weeks students earn prizes for being at school every day during the nine weeks and being on time. Please help your child earn those prizes by having them at school daily.

We are finally settling into a routine for transportation. Thank you for your patience as bus routes get settled and car rider line gets moving more smoothly. If you are picking your child up from school, please make sure and follow the car rider line. We ask that if you are entering off of I45 feeder road going south that you turn at Oak Ridge School road (between the hotel and Saltgrass). If you enter via our driveway, you will be asked to turn left and join at the end of the line. The route is below.

Morning car rider is still working out some issues. If you are waiting to arrive at 7:50 to avoid a line, try coming earlier. Also remember that we prefer you drive through the line and drop off your child instead of walking them to the front door. If you park, you MUST walk your child all the way to the front door. The parking lot is not a drop off location for students to walk from.

Our Parent Information/Title One Night will be held on September 20 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This is different from Meet the Teacher in that it will be your opportunity to hear the expectations from the teachers for the year and sign up for a fall conference. This is a great time of learning for parents and it is my desire to have as many of you attend as possible so please mark the date on your calendar.

The student handbook can be accessed online at under the Parent/Student tab. Once you establish a Parent Access account, there is a place to electronically sign that you have reviewed the handbook. Please take time to create that account, if you have not already done so, and then sign electronically that you have reviewed the handbook. If you would like a paper copy of the handbook, please drop by the front office and notify us of that. We will be happy to get you a paper copy with a receipt form.

All communication from the school will be electronic this school year. In order to stay well informed, please ensure that the campus has your most current email address on file.

Thank you for all your support with Boosterthon. The students did a great job raising funds. Our goal was to profit $15,000 this year. We will have a total profit to announce as soon as all the funds are collected.

The next PTO meeting is Thursday, September 13 @ 9:30 a.m. We would love to have you join us! For those who need an evening meeting, we will hold one in the fall and one in the spring. October 11 is the fall date and it will start at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Mark your calendars and join us that evening!

Spring Creek BBQ Night is Tuesday, September 18. Oak Ridge families are invited to bring your families and eat out at Spring Creek BBQ this evening. Part of the proceeds will go to PTO. Each year our donation back from Spring Creek is well over $1000. We would love to surpass that this year!

Each year, in order to volunteer at ORE, parents and other family members must complete a volunteer application with the district. Please take time to complete that using the link below.

Parents are invited to begin eating lunch with their children on Tuesday, September 4. When you arrive, you will need to check in at the front office with your license. Once you have done that, you will go directly to the cafeteria. We have a parent table for you and your child. We ask that you eat only with your child as we believe this to be a special time for your child and want them to enjoy their time with you. Please make sure you listen to the teachers instructions.

Just a reminder that Free/Reduced lunch status must be applied for yearly. The sooner you apply will hopefully ensure no interruption. You can apply online at the following link If you need assistance, Virginia Vera, PEIMS/registrar, will be happy to assist you.

Students who were on free/reduced last school year will continue on until September 26. If a new application hasn't been submitted and accepted, students will be required to pay full price starting September 27. In order to prevent interruption, please make sure you have submitted a new application this school year.
