Keeping Up With The Conquistadors
Discovery (from the perspective of Francisco Coronado)
Some may consider our mission to be a failure because we never located any of the Seven Cities of Gold, but I disagree for one reason- one big reason. During out expedition, my crew and I came across something significantly different from a city constructed out of gold. Close to the west coast of the Americas, my crew and I located a large canyon. Some of the Spanish soldiers that were accompanying me affectionately began to refer to this ravine as the "Grand Canyon".
However, what this discovery means, I cannot say. As far as we can tell, it is simply a large gorge in the ground. Perhaps it could be fortified and used against the native Pueblo population. Alternatively, it could be used for the execution of the natives. Some of my superiors believe that I am too harsh with the native people, but I disagree.
War Report (from the perspective of Hernando Cortez)
We were kicked out of the city six months later, so we returned with 1000 men. We were able to take down the nearly five million Aztecs due to our advanced weaponry. But something weird began to happen too. Once my men began attacking, more and more Aztecs began to become sick- almost as if our presence in Aztec territory caused a plague. But when the war was over, we built a new city in the ruins of the Aztec Empire and conquered the area for Spain.
Editorial (from the perspective of Francisco Pizarro)
I then proceeded to claim the Inca land in the name of the Spanish Empire. I believe that no Native Americans should be allowed to live in Spanish territory. Therefore I encourage all who read this to engage in actions similar to those conducted by my men and I. It is the only way to ensure prosperity for the Spanish Empire.
Spotlight: Ponce De Leon
Although he never managed to locate the fountain, Ponce De Leon also had some other notable accomplishments. For example, he sailed as a member of Christopher Columbus' second expedition. De Leon also founded a city in Puerto Rico (where he had a dispute with Christopher Columbus' son). Ponce De Leon is currently organizing a colonizing mission, featuring priests, farmers, horses, and more.
