Happy Saturday, Warriors!
I hope you have the opportunity to spend some time with your family during this long three day weekend. We are in the home stretch to the end of the school year and I'm excited to see more and more students back on campus.
If you haven't had an opportunity to watch the latest Board Meeting, I encourage you to do so. During the March 26 meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed the upcoming school year and plans for all students to return to face to face classes. You can watch the recorded meeting using this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vYxG_HjlSA
As you may know, I have been named Principal of Stephen F Austin HS for the upcoming school year. I sent an announcement letter to all households on Thursday. Attached below is the communication I sent, if you haven't seen it. I have had a wonderful time working at HBMS and I love working with your kids. But, it's time for me to move forward in my career. I will remain as principal until the summer time. I will miss your students, working with the families, and staff. Although my replacement has not been named yet, when it is, I will work closely with them to ensure a smooth transition. I know that whoever is named principal will be welcomed by you and your students, just as I was. I look forward to watching the continued growth and success of the campus.
Thank you very much for your support, understanding and flexibility as we work to provide the best learning environment during a pandemic. I understand that it is a stressful time and I appreciate your support. Thank you.

A school is only as strong as the community built around it. And a community forms only when we cultivate positive relationships based on mutual trust. That trust begins with listening!

If we have your current email address on file, you'll receive a personal invitation and survey link from our independent research partner, K12 Insight, when the survey launches.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Tips for Parents
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Tips for Parents:
Homework is a daunting task for many children. However, parents and caregivers must remember that it is the children’s homework, not theirs. Having a designated space/area that is quiet and clutter-free for your child/adolescent to complete their homework is important so that they may complete their tasks. Additionally, encourage your students to attempt doing the homework first before they start asking for help. Also encourage them to do read, make edits, and double-check their homework. Allowing your kids to make mistakes is the only way for teachers to see if he/she is understanding the material being taught. Though it may be difficult for you to resist making corrections to the homework or making the homework look nice and neat, you will be taking away a valuable opportunity for your child/adolescent to learn the responsibility of turning in quality work.
