Mrs. Baker's Class Newsletter
Dec. 5, 2014
What is going on?
Math: Students will continue working on measurement. Moving on from inches, students will learn to measure objects using feet, yards, and centimeters. Students will measure the length of objects using standard units of measurement, such as, a ruler, yard stick, and a meter stick.
Reading: Students will determine the meanings of unknown words through inferring in their texts. Students will also use text evidence and foreshadowing to predict future events in their texts.
Writing: In Writing Workshop we will be working on imaginative writing. We will focus on planning and organizing a piece of writing. We will be drafting, revising, and editing like real authors. At the end of the week, we will be learning about synonyms.
Science: Students will investigate the effects on an object by increasing or decreasing amounts of light, heat, and sound energy, such as how the color of an object appears different in dimmer light or how various amounts of heat melts/softens butter, and how vibrations cause sound.
Baptist Children’s Home book drive:
Please remember we are collecting 3/4 year old books for the Baptist Children’s home. Please bring in one book wrapped for a child. I appreciate your generous spirit.
