The Tiger Paw
Parent Newsletter - May 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s May! WE MADE IT!! First, let me say what a pleasure it has been working with you this year! If you are like me, the countdown to the last day of school has begun. As you begin to prepare for vacations and summertime fun, please continue one thing with your child. READ! READ! READ! It is so important that students READ EVERYDAY for at least 20 minutes. It’s a small thing, but studies show that when students read during the summer, it decreases learning loss!
In this issue of the Tiger Paw, you will find information on the Bibb County School District’s Summer Reading Program, Mercer University Summer Camps and FREE Literacy Resources that you and your child can use throughout the summer. There are lots of exciting things going one around the school as well, Please print and post the school calendar so that your family doesn’t miss a thing.
Again, Thank you for partnering with us at RTES and investing in your child’s education.
Have and AWESOME summer and see you in the fall!
Mrs. Tammy Dunning
Family Engagement Facilitator
The BCSD is partnering with the Middle Georgia Regional Libraries to promote summer reading. To ensure that students don’t fall behind while school is out of session, we are asking students to read every day for a minimum of 20 minutes.

If you are struggling to find the right books, I can help with that! The first step is asking your child's teacher to provide their Lexile reading level. Next, is finding the right materials to use at home. Click the icons to check out some of the fun resources I have posted below!
School Attendance Is Important!
Whether your child receives Face to Face Instruction or the Remote Learning Option, attendance is vital to academic success! Make education a priority, by ensuring that your child(ren) log on, participate or come physically to class everyday.
