Wolfsville Elementary News
October 2019
Principal's Message
The month of October will be an exciting one for the Wolfsville community! We will begin our upgraded Hub program offering more options for parents and our early childhood learners. The first All-Pro Family Breakfast will bring us together for feast and reflection. We will also commence our most important parent and teacher conferences. All of these items promote and foster strong home-school partnership and build our collective vision for our school and the community we serve. Studies show when collaborative communication occurs, parents and teachers partner together to engage students in learning and social emotional growth. This partnership improves academic performance in children and provides a greater feeling of inclusion and positivity within the school community.
You can read more about the items I mentioned below in our newsletter. I hope you find this information valuable, and as always I thank you for your teamwork and support for our school.
Yours in Education,
Megan Stein, Principal

Raptor - Visitor Management System
Raptor is the Visitor Management System used in all FCPS schools and offices. The system allows schools to track all school visitors. It provides a safer environment for all students. It also allows school administrators to know who is in the building at any given time.
When you come to our school, you will be asked for your driver's license or another form of government issued ID. If you do not have a formal ID, you will be asked your name and birth date. Your information will be entered into the visitor management system (VMS) every time you visit the school. Out of respect to the privacy of our visitors and guests, the system is not connected to any other database such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, and information is not shared with any outside agencies. Once the ID scan is done and entry is approved, the system will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of the visit.
Arrival/Dismissal Routines
The safety of students is our highest priority! You can help us ensure students arrive and leave our school safely each day through setting a structured arrival/dismissal routine. Your child's teacher should be notified of this typical mode of transportation for their record. We will ensure, unless we hear from you of a specific change, that students will safely enter and leave our school under this direction. If for some reason your child will have a change in their dismissal routine, we ask that you write a note or call the office before 3:00 PM of that day. For more information related to importance of our transportation safety you can refer to pages 9-10 in the Wolfsville Student Handbook (linked below).

Leadership vacancies: Race for Education & Family Events Chairs
We are in search of two enthusiastic organizers to head up these committees. Be assured that the entire team is willing and able to help when and where needed. We just need you to organize us. For more details see the membership form.
"Race for Education has been a great fundraiser for Wolfsville the last 3 years and has raised a lot of money to support students in our building. The fundraiser has averaged $70-80 per student. It requires about 100 volunteer hours. The fundraiser runs for about 12 weeks with each week having a focus. There are materials that guide the coordinator through the steps for completion of the fundraiser. If you are interested in leading this very important committee, please see any member of the executive committee or Mrs. Stein."

Bus Delay Information
FCPS Transportation Department provides a bus delay board. This is a way to communicate with the public and schools when a bus is running 10 minutes or more late. The information may be accessed on the FCPS website at this link: https://apps.fcps.org/transdelay/
Dollar Days Donations
The PTA is seeking donations for our first Dollar Days of the year. We are looking for new or gently used stuffed animals (washed and free of odors and stains), school supplies, small toys, coloring books, drawing pads, books, and Wolfsville spiritwear. Please send your items to Wolfsville. There will be a box in the office for donated items. Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the students at WOES!
Weekend Food Program
The Weekend Food Program discreetly supplies children with food for the weekends. Bags are filled with nutritious, easy to prepare, child friendly food items. In order to ensure confidentiality, these bags will be ready for pick-up at school by your child(ren) at the end of each school week.
REGISTRATION FOR PROGRAM:
The school would like to connect interested families to this program. This information form will be sent home with the child asking parent permission and household food allergies. This form will serve as a release of liability waiver. Parents and participating families will assume responsibility for the food they receive. Once the form is returned, the child will be enrolled in the program.
* If interested, please complete and return as soon as possible to the WFES Front Office Attention Chris Tressler or email the form to christopher.tressler@fcps.org
PTA Student Directory Last Call
