A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA

Dear Jaguar Band Families,

Welcome Back!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful break and that you are ready to return. I know I am ready to get back to school. I missed my daily interactions with each of you, as you are part of my extended family! I know that this holiday has been different from those of the past due to COVID-19. However, I hope each of you and your families were able to find time and opportunity for reflecting, rejoicing and looking to many great things yet to come.

Now, back to the reason for this letter! 2021 is upon us, and we are moving forward with numerous items. Please pay close attention to dates and events as the calendar is going to start getting very busy!

Solo & Ensemble is February 6th. Once we know the exact format and individual performance times of the event we will push that out to everyone. We will also be developing the rehearsal schedule with your accompanist and sending that to you, as well. Please keep in mind that we will continue to implement our stringent COVID-19 policies with everything we do. I know there were a few students who were awaiting solos from their lesson teachers and will be turning those in this week. We need to ensure that we have every student's solo information submitted and accurate. Mrs. Mendez will be registering everyone with UIL this week and we must have that information.

Winter Guard continues to move forward on the track to greatness and will have rehearsals Mondays and Thursdays from 5 -8 p.m. Please see the calendar for any additional dates or changes. As always, if you know of anyone interested in joining our incredible program, please encourage them to contact us and we will get them involved!!

Can you say Hawaii???? It is really happening, and you don’t want to miss the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This trip is going to be absolutely incredible, and will create wonderful memories that you can share and look fondly back upon in the future. The registration window opens this week on January 6th!! Here is the link to register and pay your initial deposit: https://bit.ly/JohnsonHSHawaii2022. On January 12th at the Johnson HS Band Booster Meeting there will be a representative from the travel company to share and answer any questions you may have about the trip, payments, refunds, air travel, etc. A link to that meeting will be published soon. You may also find out a little more information about the trip on the bands web page: https://www.johnsonbands.com/hawaii-2022.

Let’s get started with 2021 and make it an AWESOME year!!

Rookie Corner

This section is for all new (Rookie!) parents! Here we will focus on various points of information that we believe would be helpful to families in their first year with the Jaguar Band.

Parent Section Leads!

Make sure to contact your "Parent Section Lead" if you have any questions!

Volunteer !

The end of marching season does not mean the end of volunteering! Remember that we start to prepare for the 2021 marching season this Spring! We will be reaching out via email soon! Please let us know if you have any particular interests by filling out our Committee Interest Form!

End of "semester" and change of schedule for percussion

Since this school year started late, the semester doesn't technically end until the end of January. After this grading period, percussion no longer have a separate percussion class but rather start attending their full band class. Please direct any questions to Mr. Lunsford.

Winter Guard

Did you know that Color Guard is year round!? In the "Spring" color guards enter competitive "winter guard" circuits. Check out last year's Jaguar Winter Guard performance on their web page located HERE. If you know of someone that might be interested in joining the winter guard for the Spring Semester, have them get in contact with Mr. Duffy! It's not too late!

Communications

The band directors and boosters primarily rely on Charms to communicate information. Make sure your information is up to date in Charms. Reminder that the Jaguar Band school code is: JohnsonJaguarBand

Check out pictures of the Jaguar band on our website!

Go to our photos page at johnsonbands.com and check out pictures from various events in which the band has participated! Some folders are open to all the public but other picture folders must be accessed with the following case-sensitive passcode: GoJags

If you have experience taking quality photos,
will be attending games or other events, and are willing to take pictures for the band, please contact Greta Von Paumgarten at vpcommunications@johnsonbands.com.

Have fun!

Spirit Wear: online and at football games!

The new hats and spirit gear are now available for order via our website.

We have a soft-style and trucker style hat available along with two new t-shirt designs and an ultra-comfortable long sleeve hoodie shirt. Orders will be available for pick up at JHS on Mondays and this information will be communicated via email.

Band Sponsorships and opportunity to put Student names on trailer!

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! If you would like color copies of our Sponsorship Brochure, we are happy to provide them.

A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.

Details of all Sponsorship Options can be found at https://www.johnsonbands.com/sponsorships.
