START WITH HELLO - Sandy Hook Promise Week in our Coventry schools
Overview of activities:
Monday: 20 Minute All School Assembly, Start With Hello video presentation & Overview; 'Hello, my name is' stickers will be provided for everyone to wear. We will also recognize our Summer Reading Challenge participants and school winner(s) at this time.
Tuesday: Students will make 'Start With Hello' Posters to put outside their classrooms (Beginning or end of day); posters will be up for all to see by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday: Start with Hello creative writing with cross-grade level buddies. Presentations to each other, peer to peer. (Essay, poem, songs, raps, letters or skits or any other acceptable format will be fine). If you need assistance finding a cross-grade level partner classroom let me know.
Thursday: 'Start with Hello' Compliment Day. Make a compliment chain (paper) for all the compliments given to others to hang around the school. We can put some chains up in hallways and within classroom and office areas.
Friday: 'Start with Hello' Tiogue Spirit Day - wear green and/or wear your Tiogue gear- Get Caught Saying Hello Day. Give Brave Bucks and/o stickers to students who get caught saying Hello...especially to those students and to those adults that they may not know. Like the philosophy of a "mix-it-up" lunch. We could incorporate this as well as part of the day.
Again, more details to follow on Wed. 9/19 as well as the online resources guide.
Dom will also be speaking about the week of events at the 1st PTA mtg.

OPEN HOUSE
Our copier has been down over the past, so I know that this has put a damper on your copying plans for Open House. If the machine is not fixed by the end of the day Monday, I am willing to get the necessary things copied elsewhere. We have been told that the copy center is also still working to catch up from the beginning of the school year onslaught.
I received updated Title One documents that need to be available this week and for our Open House. I'll be sure that those docs are ready for you by Thursday morning of this week.

YEARBOOK INFO
Hello Everyone!
Just to keep everyone informed, we are changing yearbook companies this year. We are going back to Lifetouch. Our new parent advisor is Vanessa Dyer. I am currently in the process of getting the paperwork organized to get the yearbook up and running! I will be attending a training in October and will keep everyone posted as to the changes.
If you have any pictures of the first day or days that can be included in the yearbook I would love if you can email them to me! Take your time as I know how busy everyone is!
Thanks so much!!

Welcome back!
RIDE and OSHA require all teachers to complete a Universal precaution (required), and Epi Pen (not required, but encouraged) training yearly. I will be reviewing both of these at our orientation.
For Universal Precautions:
Here is the training on RIDE where you can read through and print a certificate of completion. This is REQUIRED bloodborne pathogens training. Please sign the certificate of completion and turn it into me. I am required to keep a record of completion.

For Epi Pen:
Here is the link to the Epi Pen video, please cut and paste in your browser. It reviews sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis (life threatening allergy), and shows you how to administer an Epi Pen.

STAR TESTING INFORMATION
UPDATED:
We are still awaiting a time-line to begin our STAR Assessments this Fall.
Our 9/24 data mtg. has been moved to October 1st so that we can review grade level STAR data at that time. If we can not assess using STAR in the next week, I will reorganize the data mtg. PD schedule.
