Magness Creek Elementary School
November 2017
November is Here!
It is hard to believe that November is here and we are already talking about Thanksgiving! Please take time to read over this newsletter so you will have the latest information about all that is going on at MCE.
Magness Creek Bridge Builders
Bridge Builders is the character education program that we developed and have implemented at Magness Creek. Our counselor, Kristi Johnson, has been instrumental in getting this program up and running. The program focuses on four words that are good qualities for everyone to possess. These four words are Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Relationships. We focus on one of these qualities each week and teachers select a student who has done a great job of displaying this quality. Our Bridge Builder's Pledge is below so you can go over it with your child at home. Thank you for your support as we try to instill good life-long character traits in our students.

Field Trips in November
We have several field trips in November this year. Rather than waiting until April and May to take field trips, our grade levels are taking their field trips earlier in the year.
Fourth grade is going this Friday, November 3rd to the 4H Center in West Little Rock. This is always a great field trip for them.
The fourth grade G/T students will be visiting Harding University on Thursday, November 9th.
Third grade students have been studying caves in their literacy classes. They will be going to Blanchard Springs Caverns on Wednesday, November 15th. This will be an awesome field trip that goes right along with what they have been doing in class.
We are excited about these great learning opportunities for our students.
Picture Make-Up Day
Picture Make-Up Day is Tuesday, November 7th. If your child was absent on Friday, October 6th, he/she will have their picture made for the yearbook on November 7th. If this is the case and you would like to order pictures, please call the office and ask for an order envelope to be sent home with your child. If your child was here and you purchased pictures that you are not happy with, you need to send these pictures back to school by November 7th for your child to have their pictures retaken. If you have any questions, please call the school office.
Veteran's Day Celebration
We are honoring our veterans and active duty personnel on Friday, November 10th at 9:00. Your child should have brought home a letter from the school giving you information about this special day. If you have a member of your family that is a veteran or on active duty, please make sure you return this form to school so we know how many guests to expect. If you are a veteran or active duty personnel - thank you for your service to our country!
Marco's Pizza Night
Thursday, November 16th is Marcos Pizza Night. If you can dine in or order out at Marcos on this night, mention Magness Creek Elementary. They will give a portion of their sales for the night back to the school. Thank you to Marcos Pizza for your support!
Pre-K Thanksgiving Program
Our Pre-K Classes will have a Thanksgiving Program for the parents of their children on Thursday, November 16th. Please be looking for information from your child's Pre-K teacher for details.
Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program
Our kindergarten students are performing their annual Thanksgiving Program on Friday, November 17th at 8:30. This program will be in the gym. If your child is in kindergarten, please make sure he/she is at school before the tardy bell rings. It takes the teachers several minutes to get the students ready for the performance.
Colonial Days
Our fourth grade students will be having their Colonial Days on Friday, November 17th. This is a great day for them to experience a little bit of what it was like to live in America many years ago. Thank you to the parents who are helping out with this special learning opportunity.
Thanksgiving Break
We will be out of school the week of November 20th - 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are traveling over the break, we hope you have safe travels and a great time with family. We are thankful for our wonderful students and great parents!
