6 Flags Read to Succeed
We are excited to share that the elementary students will participate in the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program again this school year!
If you are not familiar with this program, students need to read a minimum of 6 hours, log their time and get parent and teacher approval. Teachers then log student's time in their accounts and students are awarded a one day pass to Six Flags. Teachers that have at least 8 students participate, also get a ticket.
Students brought their reading logs home before the break!
The due date back to teachers is Feb. 23rd.
A Peek at Next Week......
Here's what's coming up next week in 2nd grade...
Reading: We will be working on reading nonfiction texts and identifying nonfiction text features as we return to school this week. Students will jump right back into our reading groups to practice identifying and using nonfiction text features.
ELA: We will be connecting our nonfiction text features skill with our writing skill for the next few weeks. Students will be learning how to write an informational writing passage.
Social Studies: We are beginning our unit on Economics! Students will spend the next few weeks learning about goods, services, wants, needs, spending, saving and opportunity cost!
Science: We are beginning our Space Unit!! This week we will be focusing on learning about stars and the sun.
Math:
Ms. P's Math: Students will spend a few days reviewing division. We will also begin our unit on Fractions! Please keep practicing multiplication facts at home :)
Ms. Bentley's Math: Students will be learning time to the nearest 5 minutes, as well as AM and PM. Students should also be practicing their 5 multiplication facts at home!
Ms. Minor's Math: Students will review division before beginning our unit on Fractions! Please keep practicing multiplication facts at home :)
Home Visit Program
Home visits are a casual way for your child to spend time with his/her teacher in the comfort of their home. Teachers enjoy having a chance to see children in this comfortable environment, doing whatever makes them most happy and spend time with children and their parents outside of a regular school day.
Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm.
