MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL JACKSON

WOW! Is the year really over? Time flies and you all just keep getting older and older! The adults stay young, of course! It was another great year at FCE!

We continue to connect with our community and expand on the learning taking place outside of our classroom walls. Our 4th graders partnered with Conner Prairie and worked in the new outdoor classrooms. Our 1st graders continued their partnership with Ritchey Woods and our Kindergarten students visited multiple Fishers Parks this school year. Many classrooms participated in Global Outdoor Classroom Day. We added Gaga pits to the playground, new playground equipment this fall and new diggers were added this spring to explore with outdoors. Our coop is still going strong with a couple new chickens added this year and the new trail provided a great place to explore and discover!

We partnered with our local Fishers Police Department and have had them on site to develop positive relationships with our students to include high fives at bus arrival, discussions about how we handle stress at the 3rd and 4th grade levels, as well as digital citizenship and school safety.

There was an emphasis on community service within our local and global community. We celebrated with our Global Youth Service Day led by our student council in collaboration with a FHS student and his not for profit organization, as well as other classes doing their own individual community outreach (Humane Society, IPS, Pour House, etc.) that were all student driven!! We continue to be amazed by your caring hearts and that you are taking initiative and are feeling empowered to help others.

We look forward to continuing seeing and hearing your ideas that positively impact those around us. We empower you to continue to be the change and to help us shape the environment that helps you to learn best. What’s next for FCE?

“Before we ever put a pencil in a child’s hands, those hands should dig, climb, press, pull, squish, twist, and pinch in a wide array of environments and with a variety of materials.” – Amanda Morgan

PTO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NEXT YEAR AT FCE!

The PTO is a non-profit organization set up to support staff and students, and to provide opportunities for parents to get involved at FCE. We meet regularly, host fun activities for the students, hold fundraisers and provide financial support for extra supplies and programs requested by our staff.

We need volunteers! There are lots of opportunities to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering for the FCE PTO for the 2019-2020 school year, please see our online sign up below:
