22-23 Fox Hollow Staff

Fox Families,

Can you believe it is the last few weeks of the 2022 year? I feel the time is flying! I am so happy and excited with all the learning and growing our students are doing.

I want to thank all that attended our very first specials night! It was so fun to see our kids showing off all they do every day. I also want to thank everyone that contributed to our Running to the Max. We have finished our prizes and I think our students loved all the fun experiences they had.

Lastly, I want you to know how much we appreciate each and every one of you. We are grateful for you and your support of Fox Hollow!

Thank you for letting us love on your kids!

Ashley Gray

Principal

Nominiate an Educator of the Year...

Cherry Creek School District is happy to announce the kick-off of our process for nominating the 2022-2023 Educator of the Year. If you are interested in nominating an exceptional educator who represents Cherry Creek’s Mission – “To inspire students to think, to learn, to achieve, to care,” and the District’s Core Values: Growth Mindset, Equity, Whole Wellbeing, Engagement, and Relationships.

All teachers, special service providers (i.e. counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, therapists, etc.) and non- teaching licensed personnel (i.e. deans, instructional coaches, etc.) are eligible to be nominated. The written nomination should be between 150-500 words, and describe how the nominee exhibits and/or embodies our mission and core values.

We are excited to honor our outstanding educators and we hope that you will participate in the nomination process. Select the link below to begin your nomination.

School of Choice UPDATE...

Cherry Creek School District is implementing a NEW School Choice application system and updated policies. The new application system will be used for all choice applications, including Non-Resident and Intra-District Transfer requests. Parents will be able to submit a School Choice application for the 2023-2024 school year starting January 1, 2023. This date applies for residents and non-residents of the school district and the first lottery run in early February for district residents, non-resident employees’ children and for students that are currently enrolled as a non-resident or on a 1 year Intra-District transfer. All other applications will be included in bi-weekly lottery runs starting in February. Students who are accepted to a choice school will be accepted to the highest grade level at that school provided they meet the continued enrollment criteria. Additional details about School Choice and the continued enrollment criteria can be found in the School Choice Transfers section of the Admissions website: https://www.cherrycreekschools.org/domain/1145.

Have a great day,

Hello Fox Family, exciting things are happening in Music!

Our first Choir Concert is December 7th at 6:30pm in the Fox Hollow Gym!

We received an Educators Initiative Grant for our Theremin Time Project! I cannot wait to explore this unit with your students!

Fifth Grade: We are starting our drum kit unit. This unit is particularly exciting as this is the first instruments that requires them to play 3 rhythms at once.

Fourth Grade: We are learning and performing a 3-part ukulele song.

Third Grade: We are composing our first Garage Band song using the classroom iPads. This app is free to download if you would like to experiment at home.

Second Grade: Through games and activities, our main goal this unit in second grade is to read more complex rhythms and sing/play pitches simultaneously.

First Grade: We are transferring a song we have used for games and moving it onto the xylophones.

Kindergarten: We are learning how to write our first musical notes.

Thank you all for your continued support! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Stay Awesome,

Art Room Update:

We are wrapping up the first round of Art Club this month. It was such a wonderful opportunity to work with students after school delving deeper into painting techniques. There will be another Art Club offered after we return from December break. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information on how to sign up!

Dear Fox Hollow Families,

Thank you for your amazing support this year with the Art To Remember fundraiser, it was a fantastic success!

If you still wish to place an order, late orders can be processed through January (But feel free to place an order at any time during the year and have the items delivered to your home.)

Thank you for your support and consideration, Mrs. Z

There has been a lot of great learning happening in the STEM room as we have begun to celebrate Computer Science Education Week with lots of coding. Check out the STEM website here to see what each grade is working on.

Mrs. Jen Sevy

We just wrapped up our Pickleball unit. Students worked hard on various pickleball skills and had fun rallying with our “net.” Be sure to ask them how we improvised! J

Basketball is our current unit! We are focusing on dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Our Kindergartners are continuing to play various “tag” type games, focusing on spatial awareness and body control. They have gotten to be Fairy GodPersons and now SpongeBobs, Patricks, and Plankton!

Intramurals are in full swing for 4th and 5th grade students. If your child is in Intramurals, please pay attention to the dates! If you need another copy of the dates, please let me know.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The current cold and flu season has an increased number of respiratory illnesses. See below how you can continue to do your part to help minimize exposure and spread:

· Keep your student/s home when sick (coughing, frequent sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc.)

· Continue to encourage good hand washing habits.

· Sneeze and cough into your elbow instead of your hand

· Keep your students up to date on immunizations; especially Flu (influenza) and COVID-19 vaccines.

· Reach out to your student’s health care provider for any specific concerns or questions.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help in keeping us all healthy and safe!
