iWEST
A Blended Learning Experience
History of West Blended Learning Grant
How is implementation of Blended Learning possible?
This learning experience is possible through the grant funding from Educate Texas. The grant will support Blended Learning academies at Austin Elementary, Valley Ranch Elementary, Coppell Middle School West and expansion of the existing program at Coppell High School. Each school's implementation will include new technology, professional development, furniture, among other necessities.
What is Blended Learning?
A combination of face-to-face and online learning within the school setting.
What does Blended Learning offer?
It offers opportunities for our students to learn through flexible pacing and different modalities, such as small group, large group, individual, and online instruction.
What will this look like at CMS West?
In 2013-14 we will be piloting a blended learning program, named iWest, with a team of four core educators at the 8th grade level. Over the following two years we will roll down this experience to the 7th and then the 6th grade.
The four core educators will be working with the same group of learners throughout the entire year. This will allow for cross-curricular and flexible learning opportunities.
